The Buccos are a sentimental favorite of mine; they've won the World Series three times within my life, though I'm only old enough to remember two of them. It's just a damn shame that the owners allowed them to slide into the cellar and stay there after they lost the '92 NL title. Maybe this season is a turning point, but I still think they won't return to glory without a new owner.
Nowadays, I rarely get a chance to see the Pirates on TV around here, so I've been following the Indians...which has often been just as painful. Both teams doing better this year...that's a nice change.
They just got a new owner a few years ago. And he seems to be putting some decent money into the team. Their facilities down in Florida are apparently state of the art. I love Andrew McCutchen as he reminds me of a Kenny Lofton who was my favorite ball player back in the 90s when I followed the Indians. the Pirates have a good young core that they need to build around and I am sure they will be looking at the playoffs within a few years. Heck they are only a few games out of Central lead right now. It's better then years past at this point of the season.
