Louisville should be made to forfeit all games played during the period covered by the infractions, vacate any championships earned, and pay a hefty fine (not from foundation or general funds). IMO, they should also serve a period of time going forward (but not the current year of investigation) when they are prohibited from participating in post season tournaments, and players should be able to transfer without having to sit out a year. Any money the school earned during the vacated championships must be returned. Then, recruits can make up their own minds about accepting scholarships there. Further, their recruiting practices must be monitored closely for any infractions for a specified period of time going forward.

There's no real correct punishment. The current and future players are the ones that will always feel the effects of previous screw ups, which I think is wrong, but there's really nothing else you can do. I feel awful for Damian Lee and Trey Lewis who are royally fucked because of this. I understand why the university took this course of action, however.

Larry Brown, Roy Williams, John Calipari and Rick Pitino should all get the NCAA death penalty.

haha, Roy just landed the top prospect in NC for the class of 2018, a few weeks ago. :gaah:

Wouldn't mind it if Larry Brown retired from SMU and served as an adviser (no contact w/ recruiting) to Manning (Brown and Bill Self are Manning's two mentors in coaching) at Wake.

You can do it financially by taking away all their post season money from the time this occurred. Require the coaches to give back any bonuses they were paid for accomplishments, and if they're retired or out of coaching they can't get back in until they pay it off in full.

Stuff like that.

Hell... Look at what they did to Calipari and Umass with the Camby situation. Why doesn't more things like that happen?

The ironic thing is that Cal probably shouldn't have gotten hammered for that.

Trying to control player/agent interaction is virtually impossible.

But recruiting issues by an assistant coach. That is 100% in your wheelhouse of responsibility.

the HC will always get hammered for it. I mean how do they not know what is going on with their program?

With an agent? Unless you can follow these kids around 24/7 it's basically impossible.

Maybe not everything with an agent but we can't act like coaches are completely clueless

I doubt kids are telling their coach they have an agent. And even if you ask them, they're gonna say no.

Plus agents these days are smart. They get college kids to do their business on campus.

interesting, cause that's why I wouldn't.

These schools have tens of thousands of kids on it.

You can't keep track of who everyone on your team is friends with.

Oh I just mean IF it happens on campus (meeting with an agent/endorsement deal etc) a coach has eyes and ears all over the place you would think they would hear something. Maybe not exactly what is going on but they should hear something.

IDK.

Neither the NCAA nor the FBI could find the supposed 250k that Webber got.

I agree. Plus, all of this is so publicized now, kids and agents are getting more savvy. With the Reggie Bush stuff at USC, everything was done off campus, specifically to keep USC from finding out.
