I hope they get more from him than the Padres did. I expect little or nothing. His performance was only slightly better than his appearance/antics on the mound and that's not saying much.

I can't imagine much more than long-relief or middle innings for him.

He couldn't even succeed in a pitcher friendly ball park.

What are the Pads thinking?

Mat Latos, Anthony Rizzo

The worst yet is Gregerson (most dominant slider in baseball when he's on?) for some other Rockies reject to platoon in an already crowded outfield.

Seth Smith is a good guy to have on a good team. He is not a good guy to have on a bad team.

In other words, he's a "depth" player.

Another bad move by the Pads

Was he the one that was traded back in the day for Josh Hamilton? Wasn't he a beast once upon a time? Was he injured? Head case? Teams figured him out?

He was good with the Reds

But the Reds traded him and Alonso to the Pads for Mat Latos. Am I right? I think that's what happened.

And yes, it was he that went from Texas to Cinci for Hamilton.

Low risk, high reward signing. His stuff resembles Liriano's and Burnett's, and Searage does a lot with that mold of pitcher. If he doesn't work out, we're on the hook for $5 million, but only for 2014, so not much downside there.
