LeClerc continues to force the competition by being fastest in P1 over Verstappen. Red Bull declares they will not have another DNF this week as they did in Bahrain but I am not so sure they have the problem solved. Bottas in his new livery system car at Alpha places third. Should be another perplexing race as now many teams have caught and surpassed the once-dominant Mercedes group.

Saudi government allegedly threatened to prevent drivers from leaving the country if they don't race and potentially prosecute them for breach of contract. Meanwhile Saudi government has sold the team principals on the bullshit that the Youthi rebels wouldn't attack the track, and if they tried the Saudi's could stop it. Even though they missed a drone within 7 miles of the track and the place that got hit is owned by the GPs title sponsor.

According to The RACE, this new fuel burns a little funky when it is hot and tanks are low. They pointed out other teams ran into similar issues during testing and figured out how to handle it, but for whatever reason, RB didn’t do much low fuel testing, nor a full race simulation.

Both LeClerc and Sainz in the Ferraris hit the wall in P2. Don't know the reason for any of that.

Everything about this weekend has been a clusterfuck. I cannot wait until we aren't racing in this backasswards counrty.

Mick slammed the wall hard and had to be extracted from the car, seat and all. While this was happening the track pumped up the house music.
Then, as they lifted the car off the track, it broke in half and the marshals had no idea what to do. Hope Mick is okay. He was awake and alert when he went in the ambo.

Also, speaking of marshals, one of them offered his wishes for Lewis on Twitter:

Checo takes pole, but no way RB lets him stay ahead, leading to a chance for them to screw it up. Ferrari has pace, top end speed and handling.

I agree with all that. It’s ridiculous. But knowing F1, if they were to strip a race from Saudi, they’d just throw a replacement at Qatar or the UAE

Yuki Tsunoda just conked out on the way to the grid and is not starting the race. So before the second race even starts, all 4 RBR Power Trains have suffered a failure.
