Max is a hot head and I don’t agree with his IG post, but not sure how you can watch the footage and think that wreck is anything but Lewis’ fault. Max even spun his wheel left to give room for Lewis, which he didn’t have to do, while Lewis left his foot in it and didn’t take the additional room to the right that he had. It was Max’ right to the line, and Lewis pitted him.

I expected 10 seconds, but expected a stop and go. given what other penalties there have been this year ‘for safety,’ this one definitely seemed very light - that was a BAD accident. I think Lewis got the serious benefit of being Lewis and it being the GB GP
I'm not so sure on that. Looked kind of like the left move happened as contact happened on Karun's analysis. He wasn't giving room, he was steering into the spin.

None of it happens if Max doesn't keep moving to the right trying to squeeze Lewis off when he realized Lewis didn't bite on the "sure go around the outside" block he threw. He put both cars in a position to not make the apex. It made it so Max had to cut harder across to not lose exit speed and it made it so Lewis was never gonna get down to the apex because he was too shallow on entry angle. Like I said both bullheaded drivers not giving any quarter, and is the definition of racing incident.

Lewis' penalty was probably based on the fact that he didn't brake and was probably still accelerating into the turn. It was called "causing a collision". He didn't make enough of an effort to back out, but he wasn't completely at fault since they gave him the second lightest penalty possible. And there would be no point to give Max any penalty, but had both cars survived maybe both would get penalized there.

At the end of the day, that wreck started in Luffield. When Lewis ran wide, squared off Woodcote and got the better run onto Wellington Straight and Max decided to continue to block, that's what sealed the wreck. Honestly had Max just went back to the racing line when Lewis didn't go outside, he would have gotten to Maggotts first, and even if they were side by side there he was way faster there all weekend and on the inside. Lewis knew that which is why he threw it up the inside. He knew if Max got to Maggotts/Becketts first it was over.

That's simply sour grapes.

I bet you go around the pit, 85% will say racing incident.

Just the guys on the short end of the stick whining.

Max dared him and Lewis took the dare.
if it is a nascar race it would be easy for me to have an opinion on the contact being a racing incident or not. Open wheels & F1 seems to have different rules on what is a racing incident. Obviously if you are one side it was an egregious move & the other side racing incident. But he was penalized. Meaning F1 didnt see it as a racing incident.

Hamilton wins a controversial British Grand Prix followed by LeClerc, Bottas, and Norris. In NASCAR, the racing incident between Verstappen and Hamilton is called a "Racing Deal".

From Alonso:

Others believe it was nothing more than a 50-50 racing incident and Alonso is in that camp, for he thought there was nowhere for the Mercedes driver to go.

“It’s difficult from the outside,” said Alonso, quoted by The Race. “It looked quite close. Lewis had more than half a car alongside Max.

“So, in a way, Lewis could not disappear from the inside line. It’s not that you can vanish.

“It was an unfortunate moment of the race, but nothing intentional or nothing any of the two drivers did wrong in my opinion.

“That was an unlucky moment.”

Yea, Hank. Alonso's conclusion is the one many objective bystanders are arriving at after the race. The fuss is being kept alive by the principles involved and I am quite sure that if an opportunity presents itself in the future between Hamilton and Verstappen, Verstappen is going to revert back to his hothead ways and take-out Hamilton. One the primary ways Hamilton and Mercedes and can put this to rest is to dominate a race blowing-by Verstappen and leaving him in the dust.

Verstappen has needed a "walling" his whole career. He nuked his own teammate (Ricciardo) twice, Once 2 years ago in Hungary (where they go next) and the one in Baku where he brake tested Ricciardo, taking them both out.

His elbows out style is fine if everybody blinks first.

An accident like that in Indy cars or NASCAR happens almost every week.

Verstappen is still doubling down on Hamilton being "disrespectful" for celebrating his win, says that Hamilton did call him to make sure he was okay afterward but is still even acting like that was annoying. Red Bull flew the engine to Japan to test (while complaining about how much money the crash cost them) and filed an appeal to present "new evidence" to the FIA on the accident. All while Mercedes and Hamilton started a charitable foundation and Lewis took to Instagram to call out Hungarian government for their oppressive laws.

This is why Red Bull and Verstappen may win a championship but they aren't "Champions". They are too concerned with what everyone else is doing. They should just focus on what they do and go win. But they can't do it without trying to handcuff everyone else too.

And of course, the appeal failed. Time for the whine to go to 11.

They are playing professional victims. And it's getting old.
