Formula One moves into Lewis Hamilton's home track at Silverstone this weekend. Everyone is waiting to see if Hamilton and Bottas can reverse the dominance of Red Bull and Honda with their secret rear suspension system and an unconventional rear wing that is making Verstappen nearly unbeatable. We shall see if the Mercs can pull it off as the gap between Hamilton and Verstappen continues to grow.

Secret rear suspension? Say whaa…?

It’s the floor reg changes that have done Mercedes in this season. Had they left the floor alone, this season would be 8 in a row..

Also, the format is different this week-end for qualifying for the race. The third practice session is erased and in its place is implemented an F-1 Sprint Race scheduled for Saturday afternoon. It is a points paying affair by F-1. Thus, I am offering for all you participation in this event with the same F-1 points structure of: First Place-3 points; Second Place-2 points; and Third Place-1 point. If you run the podium (top three positions selected correctly), you get 4 points. If you do not play, no points will be awarded.

Get your picks in after FP-2 on Saturday morning and as usual, you have until they start their engines on Saturday afternoon for the Sprint Race of 19 kms. Your selections for the Sprint Race can be different than for the race and you can use the selections for the F-1 Sprint race to submit your selections for the race on Sunday plus fourth place selection as usual. There is no fourth place selection in the Sprint Race and thus there will be none accepted here.

Again if you run the table with the correct selections in the Sprint Race, you'll receive 4 points. Again, you then have to make selections for the Race on Sunday which will include a fourth place selection like we normally do. The points awarded for the actual race on Sunday will return to our normal format.

I am going to go for it and see how close I can get to getting more points and I welcome the rest of you to join in and attempt to get more points that everyone always wants anyways.

If you need any further info either go to the website or send me a question. onward we go.

Sorry. One correction. If you correctly select all three positions in the Sprint Race, you will receive a bonus of 2 points not 4 points as I stated in the original post paragraphs 1 and 3. Thus the total points you can earn in the Sprint Race are 8.

It gets tough when you have to use more than one hand eh?

Red Bull figured out how to negate the losses in the floor changes by redesigning the rear suspension. Merc hasn't figured it out yet.

No one is going to do anything stupid. The order everyone reaches turn one will be the order everyone finishes.

Still not a trick suspension. The low rake + longer wheelbase cars were hurt significantly more. I’m not making excuses for Mercedes I’m just saying that RBR aren’t fooling anyone. Honda has brought more power, Max is better than ever, and the floor regs brought Mercedes backwards into the clutches of Red Bull.

Aston with their 2019 Interlagos spec green Mercedes is suffering badly from the floor regs as well

I think verstappen will be much faster than Hamilton on the harder tires (non reds)

Welp, since Red Bull and Ferrari both lost a lot of spots, we can expect this to not get much love going forward. And what was up with Fernando weaving all down the straights? Did he think since it wasn't a regular race that the regular race rules didn't apply? Weird.

I wonder if Perez will get a penalty for that dangerous re-entry after his spin. Although he can't do worse than starting dead last.

At Silverstone, starting second is not always a bad thing with the fast, flat out right 1st turn. And the RB really started to eat it's tires.

I'll go
