Rupp has one of the strongest arms as a catcher but he has to get his hitting more consistent so that he is the complete package.

I wonder what Fryer did with all his money. 17 years of millions. Probably night club investments. I guess this is where he went wrong - in 2003, Fryar founded New Jerusalem House of God and serves as their pastor. That scam didn't yield any big bucks I suppose.

Fryar has mental health issues.

Utley as a leadoff man. I can't see it. I miss Hernandez already. However I wish Chase the best when he hits the waivers.

Utley is done. Why we are playing this guy and sitting Hernandez who has been doing quite well defies any sense of reason.

Brown, Howard, Asche, and Rupp score single homeruns and we take Game 1. Rupp with the lead-off bomb. Rupp is slowly becoming the new Greg Luzinski. He has one of the strongest arms in baseball and he is developing some serious long-ball power. I have liked this guy from day-one and I believe he will be our catcher for the next decade just like Ruiz was only with a lot more power.

Our bullpen was outstanding. Without Defratus we always have a chance. Four solo homers in San Diego is most unusual. The Phillies are finding new ways to win! GO PHILLIES!

After sacking on the couch I woke in the 11th at 2 AM and stayed awake to catch Rupp's homer. Very impressive win for several reasons. Nola was not 100% on but still managed to hang in there like a more experienced hurler and get out of some jams. Then five relievers shut out the Padres. And who would have thought Asche, Howard, Brown, and Rupp would hit 410'+ homers in the same game? Heck with that jvett guy who said Rupp stinks. Brown had a bad play in the outfield but came back with a homer and an sharp throw to nail a runner at the plate.

Phils are 24 games under .500 but with Miami's 1 for 10, they're tied for 4th and #1 draft pick.

I agree jvett. We all have our days when we think any given player is total crap and then because of the schizoid nature of these young Phils, they come right back and make us eat our words. Each one of the players that hit home runs last night, I have stated as much at some point during the season. It is the nature of being a fan. No worries; I can't condemn you when I have done it myself.

Other than the fact that he's big like Luzinski, sorry but there is no other resemblance. Rupp is averaging 1 HR for every 60 AB's. He will be 27 next month and there are 2 rising stars at the catchers position in the Phillies system. Lol,comparing him to Luzinski!
