Phillies call up Utley and Loewan.

The Phillies called up Chase Utley and Adam Loewan. Utley will start tonight VS the Padres. They sent Danks and Hinojosa to Lehigh Valley. Hinojosa has pitched well since being picked up off of waivers. But why not send down the useless Defratus instead? This is one of those head scratchers.

You got me excited... I thought maybe Utley had a younger brother that was called up. Chase was called up 12 years ago. I think the word should be activated?

Ok! Utley was activated! But he was still called up! They usually do these things via telephone.

DeFratus just flat out struggles with any consistency and Hinojosa appeared to be a better consistent pitcher. I am with you Northeast. Another move that has little basis in any baseball logic or acumen.
