We are coming off a nice Sunday win in Philly and start this 3-game series in New York this evening. Let us see if the Phillies make some moves this week because the trade deadline is Thursday.
As usual, Burnett is giving up hit after hit after hit here in the first. Two runs have already scored and Burnett keeps serving up very hittable curve balls. He usually takes 4 innings to get going and the Mets are taking advantage. There are two more runs in scoring position. This could get ugly very quickly.
Burnett has thrown 30 pitches already and with the bases juiced, Burnett just gave another two runs with another double. They should move Burnett along with about five other players that are just useless.
Burnett must have thrown about 15 pitches last inning that were belt high and the Mets jumped all over those and they just kept getting hits. They really need to move this guy along with Bustardo, Kendricks, Lee, and hopefully Howard.
Now Burnett is starting to find his rhythm and gets a 1-2-3 inning. If we could just get him to not give up so many runs in the first two innings, he'd be a pretty good pitcher.
Burnett is fading. There are two on with two outs and his pitches are drifting up into the belt region and that is a long ball waiting to happen. There it is, a three-run homer just as I was typing.
