I haven’t seen any games until today (Colorado - I live in the Denver area) so most of my sample size has been box scores
Overall Phillies are playing well as they should be against the bottom feeders like Washington and Colorado
With the exception of Aaron “shit the bed” Nola starting pitching has been solid
Relief pitching has been so-so
And hitting has been feast or famine
In short it looks like this is a carbon copy of last year which makes sense since they did not make any major changes and we all know how that turned out last year
Oh I forgot though the “Daycare is closed”
Hitting goes through stretches in the game where they look lost
I would like to see the offense put more pressure on opposing pitchers throughout the game from the start
The good news is they are 3-1 and should sweep the Rockies but the Dodgers are looming and that will be a good litmus test even early on in this season
Phillies come back against Colorado. We are tied with the Marlins at 3-1. Looks like the Phillies may bolster our already decent bullpen with another potential trade for a Lefty Reliever.
