Let's update everyone on Carter Hart and his Everett Silvertips:

Hart is 10-2-1 in the playoffs to date with a 2.25 gaa and .931 sv% as his Tips have dispatched defending WHL champion Seattle 4-1, Portland also 4-1 and now lead Tri-City 2-1 with game four looming on Thursday night.

Two more wins and they will compete for the WHL championship and ultimately for a shot at the Memorial Cup, which goes to the best team (of 60) among the three major Canadian junior leagues (OHL, QMJHL and WHL).

Actually, Morgan Frost's Greyhounds of the OHL could end up meeting Hart's Silvertips of the WHL in the Memorial Cup along with the Regina Pats (host team) and whoever wins the QMJHL championship. They are also up 2-1 (over Kitchener) in the third round of the OHL playoffs.

Furthermore, German Rubtsov's Titan could also make the Memorial Cup representing the QMJHL. They won tonight to take a 3-0 series lead over Victoriaville in the third round. He is not the main piece on this team like Hart or Frost are to theirs, but it's still a fact.

And so, we could end up having three of our top prospects on three different teams all facing each other in the Memorial Cup, which is a round robin tournament beginning May 18th.

The host team Regina Pats do not currently have a Flyer prospect, I already checked that. Still pretty unreal, however.

The Phantoms take out Providence 3 games to 1 via a 4-3 OT win yesterday and thus make it to round two.

Alex Lyon with 49 saves on 52 shots and Maxim Lamarche nets the game-winner.

We get Charlotte next, who swept the baby Penguins. Game 1 is Friday, May 4th @ PPL Center.

"The American Hockey League has suspended Phantoms forward Nicolas Aube-Kubel for Games 3, 4, and 5 of Lehigh Valley's second-round playoff series with the Charlotte Checkers. The suspension, Aube-Kubel's third of the 2017-18 season, stems from a high hit on Charlotte's Josiah Didier in Game 2. All three of his suspensions this season have been for checking to the head. The series with Charlotte is currently tied at one game apiece. Game 3 is on Tuesday, Game 4 on Wednesday, and Game 5 on Saturday."

Please release this piece of garbage.

So I don't think he's had much of a suspension history aside from this year. Obviously 3 in a year is pretty bad, but I couldn't find another suspension for him, AHL or QMJHL. I'm not quite ready to release him, he's shown some good promise as a hockey player this season and had a couple good QMJHL years too.

Needs to clean up the headshots though obviously.

Well, I guess from his perspective what's the incentive? I mean, it's your third headshot of the season and you only get 3 games???

Still, he was 3rd on the team this season with 46 points and 1st with a +24, so he is an actual skill guy that appears to play defense too.

I understand that, but my point is that I don't want dirty players on this team regardless of how good they may or may not be. I'm not one of the hypocrites who complains about how dirty Crosby and Malkin are but would love them on the Flyers. No, they'd still be complete douches and I'd root against them.

Kubell has the skill, rink sense and skating to be a middle six player in the NHL.
He has adapted from being a top scorer to being a middle six player with more skill than most.
His suspensions this year have been as much a result of the league cracking down on high checks as his own play. The big question will be how he learns from this and how he adjusts his game.

Carter Hart has some pretty rough looking numbers to date in his first pro season, but that's not alarming given he's just turned 20. He appears to be improving and has given up two goals or fewer in three of his last four starts.

I still wouldn't rush to bring him to the Nhl. Just let him develop and perhaps he makes the team next season and gets a taste late this season.

He’s really looking better recently too. And a 7-0 game in early October is hurting him.

3-0-0 in his last three. 1.34 gaa / .955 sv% across on 89 shots in those games. Picked up his first pro shut out tonight!

It says Ersson will be in the NHL 2021-22 and is projected to be a starter. Where would that leave us with the Carter Talbot tandem?

Talbot will be gone by then I expect. And if Ersson is ready to be an NHL starter by then, and Hart is still doing well, the Flyers will have a great situation in net with 2 NHL starter caliber goalies. Can move one of them for help elsewhere if it makes sense.

If it happens this way than we really just traded away Stoli for pretty much nothing.

well, I guess we can look at that we traded Stoli for a mentor to Hart for a couple years. If reports on Ersson come to fruition, Stoli isn't beating him out anyway.
