Just an embarrassing performance by Koepka. One shot away from the greatest choke job in PGA history. No player has ever lost a PGA event with a 7 shot 54-hole lead. An incredible gag job.
Everyone was getting clobbered out there though. The conditions were real tough and he put up a great round given that.
6 wins, 4 of them majors. Crazy. He's going to get very tired of being asked about his significantly lesser success in non-majors, if he isn't already.
That's just it though? DJ could almost freewheel it around the course being as far back as he was......when he closed the gap to where a legit comeback was possible, he folded up. At some point, given all the insane talent he has, I think it has to be addressed. I ain't calling him a choker, but he sure isn't a closer.
A problem that almost every golfer would enjoy.
Sure....but this isn't the first trip for DJ down this avenue. He's got a lot of Major scars that are of his own doing.
At least. I'd even put it at 4Mickleson choked away two US Open wins.
Can't nearly gag away a 7 shot lead and bogey 5 of the last 8 coming in and feel good about it. I think we knocked a little of the cocky off of him today. He'll be more humble now. He's lower than anyone else so he deserves it.
It's not a "gag job" when you win by 2.
When you gag away 6 shots of a 7 shot lead and then depend on Johnson to make two ridiculous bogeys at the end while you bogey 5 of the last 8, I certainly think you can call it a gag job. It's not a "gag job" when you win by 2.
As soon as he got within one he completely fell apart.Sure....but this isn't the first trip for DJ down this avenue. He's got a lot of Major scars that are of his own doing.
I’m sure he would be fine with all major wins. No other tourneys matter
