yeah his problem is his terrible blocking, especially run blocking. IDK how much it would change if he was graded as a wr vs. te, or if it would change at all. His pass grade is around 20, but his blocking almost halves that. His worst games were against NE, STL., and SEA.

What is Kaep ranked? With run plays factoring in, I would imagine he should be around avg.

And look, no seahawk center/guard/tackle in the top 10. Don't let the Wilson haters see that. Really freaks them out when you point out how fucking terrible their line was last year.

Hard to believe foles isn't top 10 unless cumulative stats are used since he didn't start every game. In averages he would have to be up there.

Rodgers, Cutler and McCown made the list and didnt play the whole year. Strange Foles didnt make the cut.

they kind of take everything into consideration kind of like qbr. Situations for example. He took quite a few sacks and throwaways, got bailed out, etc. He had the highest passer rating and y/a. His lowest rated games were against dallas, ari, det (snow bowl), and minny. 7 of the sacks were rated strictly on him, as well as 5 hits and 3 hurries. He just had a few real bad games (not statistically) that hurt him. You get a grade each week and those are added up for the final.

What the seahawks fans wont like though, is that Sherman ranked 6th among CB's, (Revis #1, and ranked ahead of him in everything, pass rush, coverage, run d, and penalties). Thomas ranked 9th among safeties. His run d was ranked as terrible, he only was positive in coverage (4th in coverage). Thats the thing, if you are bad at something they subtract that from their grade, he had slightly negative grades in pass rush, and penalties and a bad grade in run d.

Just imagine if they did...

Also, no Forte on the list?

Forte was ranked 16th, his blocking grade is what killed him. (-5.5), with a neutral run grade he would have been at 11, almost 10. 5th in pass grade, 20th in run grade, 1st in penalty.

Sherman might not like that if he saw it, but fans? I can't speak for them all, but what matters to me is they won the SB. How any site ranks each player is of no real importance at all. Rank Sherman dead last. As long as he keeps on going out there and totally locking down his area he's doing all he is asked to.

Now Thomas being graded badly in run D? All I can say is

He did have one play in the regular season road game @SF where he missed an assignment and let Gore rip off for a huge run that turned out to be the game winner, but outside of that he was solid all year in the run game. His ability to read the play and explode to the runner is insane to watch.

I don't know what he did to get a failing grade there, but I'd take him against any run team in the league all year long.

Upset by it? No, of course not. Just surprised.

I'm sure blocking has more weight as a TE and since he doesn't block that probably effected his number. Plus they seem to put very little value on TDs and redzone in general

My guess, (earl) part of it was his 14 missed tackles, ranked 36th in stops among safeties, which is the number of solo tackles that lead to an offensive failure. His worst run games were against STL, SF, ATL, and TB, the worse being the TB game. The thing that hurt him was that his best game gave him a +1.0 grade, but he had 4 games with a grade of -1.0 or more. Also as you said, situations affect grades.

He was ranked as 9th among safeties but was the first ranked in the Top 101, showed here, (includes postseason accomplishments), https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2014/05/16/the-pff-101-top-to-bottom/ . I believe you can look at that stuff w/o a sub. ALSO if you click on Shermans name, or anyone in the top 10 (Lynch) they have a write-up on them, that is very interesting to read.

He was graded well in everything. 7.4 in pass block, 4.0 in screen, 3.6 in run block, and 3.6 in penalty. (=18.6).
He was graded as allowing 0 sacks, 4 hits, 8 hurries, he had 1 penalty assigned to him. He had 4 negative graded games, only two were over-1.0 (rated as red). One was a bad pass block (2 hits, 2 hurries) and run block grade, and the other was a bad run block grade. HE WAS ranked 2nd in pass block, (pouncey), #1st in screen block, 11th in run, and 2nd in penalty.

His passing grade would have ranked as the 5th best passing grade among wrs. He does block, just not as much and is terrible as a run blocker.

A little surprised the gap between Jamaal and McCoy was that big.

Mccoys run grade is what put him so high, the next highest is lynch (27.5/////15.1). My guess is it is a combo of things, He had 16 more missed tackles in the run game, had more yards after contact, and yards after contact/attempt. Had a better yard per carry, and had only 1 fumble, to charles 4 and situational football affects this. i also know he had a better yard per carry and yard per reception. They also have a slew of other stats. If mccoy was a better blocker it would be more (-4.2).

McCoy also had a higher elusive rating, breakaway % ( % of yards that come on runs of 15 yards or more), and a much better drop rate.
