Has now lost 8 times in the first game of the postseason..... Many of these games were at home after a bye. Deserves to be mentioned when discussing him as one of the best ever.

If it wasn't for being gifted a Superbowl against Rex Grossman, he would still be known as the biggest choker in NFL history.

He's lucky to have arrived right when fantasy football took off.... That might be his legacy.

In fairness to Peyton the Broncos scored what, 35 points? That should be good enough to win at home. I put the loss on the D but that interception he threw at in OT was a rookie mistake. Peyton is a legend, though. Like Marino, one of the best QB's of all time.

It's as much on Manning as the defense. 3 TO, he gave them 17 points. Manning choked.....again. What's new?

It was like Indi all over again. No running game and his defense sucked.

That interception in overtime was really really dumb, but he was obviously pressing.

As far as where he ranks, Brady hasn't won jack since he lost his defense. In fact, when they won 3 out of 4, the one they lost was when their defense was no longer top 6 (1,2,6), it was 17th. Elway finally won late in his career when he had really good talent around him and a very good defense. The talent around Montana was unbelievable and had a great defense. Marino never won one. Rodgers had the 2nd ranked defense when he won it and has come up way short since his defense has fallen apart.

Obviously, SB's have to be a factor in the measure of any QB, but no QB has ever won it on his own, and in fact, as shown above, they've always had to have the backing of a very good to great defense to win it. Over the length of his career, looking at overall talent (coaches and players) and defense, Manning hasn't been as fortunate as many other QB's.

But there's a reason why as soon as he won his first SB, people became more comfortable talking about him going down as the best ever. Just in about every single book, that one is going to be more than enough.

Peyton is the best ever.

Wait a minute. Isn't this the same D that carried Tebow last year or is it different now that Peyton is the QB. Maybe Peyton can't inspire an entire team like Tebow can.

Their defense had been pretty damn good for the last half of the season. But you couldn't watch the game last night and say it was the same defense we've been watching. Not even close. That's the point.

I'm sure if you would've asked Broncos fans 'hey we'll put up 35 on the Ravens..take it or leave it' most would've thought with the Bronocs d that would be more than adequate.

I couldn't watch the whole game. The only turnover I saw was the pick in OT which was atrocious. I did see Manning drop a beaut of a TD pass in the first half. He looked like Peyton to me. I think his coaching staff kinda pussed out. Kneeling at the end of regulation with I believe 2 timeouts should have you fired IMO.

Really, it was the Broncos D that choked. That safety getting beat deep? If that guy does his job we're not having this conversation. Like the Bengals, the donkeys snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

Did Peyton fumble for the other two TO's or did he throw picks?

1 fumble. 1 pick-6 that was arguably P.I. that wasn't called.

One INT from a tipped pass due to clear pass interference that wasn't called. One fumble on a play I have no idea how didn't fall under the tuck rule (refs were pretty one sided in this game - Ray Lewis factor, similar to the Jerome Bettis factor).

You couldn't throw a worse INT than the one Manning threw to lose the game. It was only 2nd down, which makes it even more inexplicable..

The playoff record is obviously a part of his legacy, just like it is for all the other great QBs. but if you try to put a player's career in a historical prespective a day after the worst play of their career it's going to skewed.

Manning isn't a top 10 all time QB IMO. The Broncos D held the Ravens to 21 points, Manning gifted them 17.

Let me guess, you think very highly of Bradshaw and Roethlisberger.
