Our OL is absolutely terrible. Worst in the league. Much worse than the garbage Peyton has been playing behind all these years in Indy. Joe Staley, Mike Iupati, and Jonathan Goodwin are practice squad players that shouldn't even be on the field. Forget the 1st game, we're talking 1st snap get Manning killed bad.

Is this for real?

What part of it didn't you like?? About manning being a system qb?? it's true its just like rodger/brees you take them off there team and say put them on the browns no way they put up the same kind of numbers. They are good because of the system that they are in.

Peyton Manning IS the system for the Colts,as evidenced by their total and utter collapse without him. His OL has been below average for a long time and he has no ground game. He's the sole difference between ten wins and no wins.

Out of curiosity, if Manning, Rodgers, and Brees are all system QBs, who is an independently great QB? Obviously any QB's numbers would go down if you put them on one of the worst offensive teams in the league. That's a silly standard.

Hypothetical situation here.

Suppose Colts decide they are going to draft Luck and go into a rebuild mode, and they do not pick up Peyton's $28M option, so Peyton is a free agent.

Also suppose 49ers win a game at home in the playoffs, and then lose on the road in Green Bay. Also in the playoffs, it's likely that our passing game will not be able to keep pace with the Packers or Saints in a shootout.

If Peyton is out there, do we go after him and keep Kaepernick as the heir apparent, or settle for Alex?

A healthy Peyton would be an upgrade over Alex. Peyton made an average Colt team last year competitive, and average dudes like Dallas Clark, Jacob Tamme, Garcon, Austin Collie became better with Peyton.

to big a risk unless you can get him for a pack of gum

The only way Manning doesn't go for a dump truck full of Benjamins is if he fails the physicals; in which case the only team stupid enough to sign him would be Oakland. :)

I know this is the 49ers board but the injury that he has is serious if I was an owner I would not sign him,the thought of him further injuring himself is just to big a risk,I wouldn't want to live with that if it happened while he was on my team

On the flip side, if Alex is not retained, where do you think he would end up?

I think the best Alex could get is a job where he'd be in competition for the starting job but not guaranteed anything and possibly be the underdog in the competition. Miami, Jacksonville, Cleveland, Redskins, or Seahawks.

I don't think he would fit good with Harbaugh. Harbaugh is a former QB who coaches his QBs, not the other way around.

Peyton would need to go to a coach who is defensive minded that can keep his mouth shut on offense and get some puppet OC to work with Peyton.

Besides Harbaugh might have a grudge against him for taking his job in Indy.

I think this is probably the best and most interesting point brought up. Though I'm not sure the two would not be able to work together, it would be interesting for sure and test Manning's ability to be a player and follow his coaches and it would really test Harbaugh's ability as a coach and leader of the 49ers.

Peyton is a pro and he worked with Tony Dungy I think he knows when to turn it on and off...I think Harbaugh and Manning would understand each other and be a very impressive duo.

Peyton makes this O-line play so much better by reading the Defense pre-snap. He controls the offense. If we even have the slightest chance at getting Peyton we have to do it. He would make this team an immediate Super Bowl contender.

I didn't realize you had already seen the medical reports from next February and march. What's the diagnosis? Will the fusion happen?

So you clearly know his status for next fall already.

What do the future medical reports say? What kind of contract did we sign him to?
