According to the New York Daily News, the Jets will sign TE Brandon Pettigrew shortly. It's an upgrade on Zach Sudfeld and Jeff Cumberland, but it's far from a difference-making acquisition. Pettigrew is a plodding, catch-and-fall guy in the passing game that has averaged 9.95 yards per reception in his five-year career. He's also been a liability when blocking in the run game. Pettigrew will barely be on the TE2 radar with Geno Smith and the Jets.

Lewan is faster (4.87 forty) by quite a bit. I believe Williams ran a 5.11 40 yd at his pro day last year

I don't exactly think it's cool to slam someone, like you're constantly doing to Trust, for what his opinions/wants are regarding FA signings. You made a comment on another thread about how immature it is to whine because someone isn't satisfied (paraphrasing). That's the norm for TP. He hates when I don't agree with everything the Lions do. I just want to see the team become a winning franchise. They have tried the route of stacking the offense and it has got them one winning season since 2000.

I'd like to see them do that for the defense, as you don't have to win every game by scoring 30+ points.

See. I'm not far off. We'd have the best blocking TE in the NFL. Shouldn't be too difficult to teach him to catch the ball.

If someone goes down on the OL -- he can step in and fill that role too. Kill two birds with one stone.

Jets may have the worst 3 TEs in the history of football. Talk about plodders. I think Jeff Cumberland might be better than Pettigrew next year too.
