I'm excited... I've always been a closet Raider fan...
I'll take that as your opinion is he's not washed....

That's why you and I always get along so well on here in the NFL game day threads over the years..... :heh:

Pete will be fine, but Quinn said something about the defense they use to run. The NFL adjusted to the defense and now knows how to attack it with great success. Pete was a great HC and he was fired because it was just time. If he was still here i feel the hawks would have most likely made the playoffs this year but what does that get you other than a lower draft pick? I'm sure Pete wasn't sitting on his arse when he was unemployed and being the defensive coach that he is i bet he did a lot of tinkering to his scheme. Thats just who Pete is, he never just sits back. Raiders have a coach now that can put a foundation together and he will turn over EVERY stone to do so. It might take 2 years or more but he will get them on the right track. To be honest the Jets or Giants really should have hired Pete.

I'll be curious if Pete can rebuild the Raiders

Wont be his job to rebuild it, it will be his job to get the guys playing. He isnt the GM right? He will also change the culture which 100% needs to be changed. The Raiders have been a mess for some time.

Not the GM but wonder if he'll have any influence on the draft and who should be taken.
No doubt he'll change the culture but if the Raiders draft poorly it won't matter how well the guys play, they'll still stink.

Spytek and Pete were Brady guys. Shocked that a 10% ownership is allowing Brady to be so vocal or is it he just pushed his way into the picture with his playing success.

Maybe it's a different voice of reasoning to get the Raiders jump started?

Rookie GM. Carroll will have significant input on who they bring in.

Mark Davis is tired of losing and knows he is limited on what he can do football-wise.....at least he isn't hiring guys to be some puppet.....he would have never hired Carroll....Jerry likes to be the post game interview.

I think Pete could be a very effective short term HC to get the raiders turned around. Maybe they can even contend in 2 or 3 years if they hit a few key draft picks (like QB) and nail a couple key free agents or trades. But I really cannot see him being there more than 3 or 4 years. If he coaches into his late 70s, he'll be damn near old enough to run for President!!

Some of Seattles best offensive years were under Bevell. Dont let it freak you out to much, he was successful jut didn't "adjust" very good when things didnt work out. He was just more a scapegoat fire.

This team would have been better off sticking with Bevell. Best OC we had in the PC era without question.

I started thinking about RW almost right after Carroll was hired....

He played pretty well in Pittsburgh and wasn't as bad as Broncs fans think he was.....but if we need to improve the OL....and get a lead RB and it'd be nice to get a #1 receiver.....the laundry list of what we need is pretty long. Good thing we have a lot of cap space and a draft to fix some things.

I thought he was being ripped by you guys before he was fired....????
Well of course he was being ripped by some. Doesn't mean it was justified or well aimed. People were upset about losing the SB and needed someone to take it out on. And of course "playcalling" is always a convenient punching bag by reactionary types.
