I'm all for elimination of the goon and I think that staged fights are absolutely ridiculous/pathetic. I don't have an educated stance on why fighting should remain in the game of hockey.....nevertheless, it's how I feel. I want fighting to remain in hockey, but not because of a clean check or because of a "job to do". I'm also not really sure how to obtain the scenario I posed above.

So I'm useless, but there's my two cents.

Also, I feel like Spinderella should be brought up in this thread.....so there's that.

look I like fighting in teh game. I like it a lot but what is happening mostly is staged stuff. I mean you listen to some of the fighters talk about how anxious they get becuase they will be fighting so and so the next game and you have to think taht its a little crazy that its already being planned. its like the unwritten code. they do it because they need to to keep a job. before it was because he was part of a bad play or bad hit etc... now its just to fight which I dont think needs a place in hockey. getting rid of fighting wont solve anything. getting rid of the staged fights will help alot.
