The Pens have come out of the gates flat a few games in a row now. But 3-2 isn't too shabby with an extremely banged up D-core. Bortuzzo was injured halfway through the 3rd and we were rolling with Martin-Orpik-Niskanen-Despres-Picard. Let that soak in a bit. Oi vey. Malkin was very very very very close to taking over this game. A pissed off Geno is often a good thing (other than pissed off stupid penalty/turnover Geno...that's bad).

Except you're ignoring the fact that the Flyers also had two rookies on defense last night (six total as Tox correctly states) and the Pens were off the previous two nights while Philly was working the second game of a back to back.
Malkin should've taken the game over with tired rookies caught out on the ice for the Flyers late in the game, BUT he didn't.
It's alright, I'd be a little sour too if my team had lost 5 of the last 7 games in this rivalry with all five losses in regulation.
