Pens stuck in an oil slick GDT

I'm not watching the game, and not to take anything away from the Pens PK today, but the Oilers PP is not good at all. Even with all their players healthy it wasn't good.

No shots on a 5-3 of over a min and a half is great no matter who you are playing.

That was a great quick move by Kovalev to draw the penalty. I think he might have scored if he hadn't gotten tripped.

That line of Neal, Letestu and Kovalev looks really good today. They just can't put it in the net. Staal, Cooke, Kennedy and Kunitz, though, are happy to pick up the slack.

How did Fleury manage that? Flipping the puck straight over the glass on the backhand with a goalie stick.

And now the Oliers have 2 shots on the powerplay. They came back-to-back, but Fleury was up for the challenge.

Steiggy and Errey made that sound like a dirty hit. I don't think it was. He had just gotten rid of the puck and the hands were in the chest. Omark got a penalty for charging Letang, but I thought that was a good, clean hit.

Neal's looked good early in this powerplay, setting up Letestu twice early on and playing strong on the puck. And now he's got a great shot off, with a good save made by Dubnyk (sp?).

The forearm never got to the face. It was right in the chest. That was just a strong, clean hit.


Nice pass by Neal. He looked like a playmaker on that powerplay.

I will have to look at it again. You could be right. I thought he pushed him much lower. Thought it was his the upper bodythat hit his head/chin.

He might have gotten it up there late, but it looked to me like the initial contact was in the chest.

I don't think that matters. The initial contact is what matters. The follow-through doesn't, especially since Letang was likely already falling backwards when that contact was made.
