First off, what a weird start time for a Monday. Four in the afternoon? Did the NHL assume everyone is off on Columbus day? WTF??

Pens are 0-2 and heading in the wrong direction early in the season, while Marty and the Devs are 0-1-1, and holding two dubious worst of stats that are very rare in Jersey.

I think this one will be ugly, but entertaining.

Thank God someone else started the thread. I'm already bad luck...well, I see a win, but only because a) Marty's been struggling b) Volchenkov is most likely out and c) they're playing with, at the most, 10 forwards to due a suspension and cap restriction. So they're forwards will be whopped by the end of the game, and I think the Pens can take advantage of that. If they cut the cutesy crap out of the PP and Fleury plays like a man (although Beej may get the start) they should win. I think Martin scores too. It's gotta happen.

If that's the case, what good is an entire day of hockey if only half the audience is able to see it? Columbus day isn't like U.S. thanksgiving or New years day, where most offices and businesses are closed. But, whatever. There are 79 games to go.

I seem to remember a game last season where NJ was down to three forward lines and a short bench, and they still dealt pittsburgh the loss.

The Penguins need to maximize the advantage they have today.

I wouldn't worry too much, it's only game number three. Both of the teams seem a bit sloppy to me. The Flyers are sailing in the same boat - they've just been able to eek out some points. When the Atlantic gets rolling, it will be scary.

I'm probably in the minority, but I believe the loss of Gonchar is going to hurt more than people think. Most that I've spoken to feel that Letang, Goligoski or Martin will fill the void without missing a beat. I think they're all adequate point men...Gonchar was better than adequate.

The Pens look horrible, so maybe they have a chance today.

1.) Goligoski is not the powerplay QB, he has no idea what to do, or scared to do it.
2.) The support is just not there from any one right now
3.) Staggy... makes my ears bleed.

(ha.. goligoski scores as I type, but that has nothing to #1) nice shot
