We beat the hell out of this same Penn St team with a lesser Olemiss team last year..

So, yea you probably right.. LOLOL
Another fan who won't be watching his team in the National Championship. Had they won just one of the three they lost they might have had the chance.

College teams are totally different from one year to the next. Especially, now with the transfer portal. Good to know that your lesser team which lost 2 games was not as good as this year's team that lost 3 games. That seems a little convoluted.

Penn State has not had a top flight QB since Kerry Collins and that was 31 years ago. A string of guys who were good, occasionally great but never elite. Christian Hackenburg, Trace McSorley, Sean Clifford and Now Spew Allar. This team had enough talent to win it all easily. But was happy with uneven QB play and a questionable coach. Should Franklin go, probably. But he won't. But Penn State should work hard to get a transfer QB, someone who can play and not just run up stats against Maryland or Northwestern

You that 1.3 MM under my name don't you?

I'll give you tomorrows winner if you beg a little..
zing? You made most your cash on a typo that was still paid out. You really beating your chest over fake cash? Almost as bad as posting multiple threads whining about fake cash payouts…..theoretically of course.

IMO, PSU wins this game with Clifford or McSorley

Not even sure I'd call Hackenberg good, except for his freshman year. A 56.1% completion percentage in today's CFB is awful.

In games against top-10 opponents, in his career Franklin is now 3-18.
yeah. I still think he's a good coach. Do you 100% think that record is due to his coaching? Couldn't it be that many times on the field the other teams have more talent? last night. I watched the entire game. I don't put that on Franklin. I put that loss on Drew Allar. QB is the most important position on the field, and if your team's QB is playing bad, you probably are not going to win.

Agreed on that loss, Allar shit the bed.

I got OSU tonight, I hope it’s a good game like last night but comparatively OSU’s last showing and Texas’ last showing were quite opposites. Texas game should not have gone into OT at all.

Some of those losses were close games and felt like games PSU probably should have won, whether it's due to coaching decisions or just luck. It's not like this was Allar's first mediocre game, he wasn't very good against OSU, Oregon, or SMU. He sucked against OSU and Michigan last year too. Franklin shitting the bed is always funny, but I don't really put this one on him either. Only thing I'd criticize is he probably should have leaned on the running game on the final drive (not that last second "drive"). PSU was running well and even if ND stops them, it just goes to OT. But I don't think throwing in that situation was absurd either.

yeah agree.

to expand, I said Franklin is a good coach. didn't say he was a great or elite coach. He's a B/B+. and would classify Drew as a QB the same - a B/B+. PSU will finish seasons at 9-3/10-2/11-1, until they get the tippy top elite players and an elite coach. Marcus Freeman is impressive, his stock is definitely on the rise. His steadiness, poise, and determination is admirable. Calm and cool.

Somewhat? PSU mostly kept the running game in check, but ND was able to run to some degree in the second half. On the flip side, they had 267 passing yards on 31 pass attempts.

I love ND's pass defense, but that run defense could be a real issue

If your point is that ND is imperfect, not anything close to a juggernaut, (or etc)... that's true.

What they are is a good, well-coached team that has been hit pretty hard by injuries, yet has still found ways to overcome adversity and win.

I think ND will be the underdog against either Texas or Ohio St... and we'll all see if they can pull off one more.
