Redd will probably open the door for others who are sitting on the fence not wanting to be the 'first' to betray their team-mates.

This could be true. Either way, I'm still waiting for it to get ugly.

What I think is COMPLETE bullshit is that players have up to a year to transfer.

Not getting enough playing time? Leave.

Coach make you sad today? Leave.

Cafeteria stop serving your favorite soft serve? Leave

I think the NCAA screwed the pooch on this particular part of the sanctions.

I really don't understand why a junior or senior would go.

I say this was a win for NCAA. Can you imagine the massive "why punish the kids (meaning football players)" cry from Happy Valley if the players didn't have a choice? I can.

So right now Penn State fans can only cry "poor us, these sanctions are too tough". Which is horseshit IMO.

How would that be punishing them? That they won't be able to play on the big stage for the NFL? I thought Emmert said academics was more important.

Punishing them because they don't get to play for Big Ten championship and play in bowl games. After all, they didn't have anything to do with Sandusky's crimes.

From another thread. Yeah, it sucks for us as fans but the NCAA has actually made it even more difficult on student athletes from PSU and has violated their own codes of conduct in the process. THAT, my friend, is the bullshit here

Seriously though... I appreciate the effort to try and help out the student athletes that they just fucked, but they did it all wrong.

How on earth the NCAA allowed opposing coaches to come on campus and recruit like a bunch of Mormons is beyond fathomable to me. These kids should be allowed to contact schools if they wish to leave, but they shouldn't be baited into other situations. THIS IS NOT PROFESSIONAL SPORTS. THIS IS NOT FREE AGENCY.

The NCAA should have provided a list of contact information for any player who wished to test the waters. Now, PSU players that do want to stay are probably resisting the urge to punch these door-to-door salesmen in the fucking face.

Do I blame other teams for this? No. Do I blame the fucked up NCAA? You betcha.

FUCK OFF EMMERT

You don't think Redd's going to the NFL if he stays at Penn St?

He might declare after this season.

That's the NCAA's fault, not theirs. Hell the NCAA is so corrupt it shouldn't have been allowed to do anything to PSU. Look at Kentucky basketball and tell me how much the NCAA really cares about academics and student athletes.

I don't see how having other coaches on campus is the big crime in all this. The players have a choice, they can tell those coaches to kick rocks if they want to.

It does sound to me like some of the coaches on campus could be considered slimeballs for the way they're going about it, however.

So who should if not the NCAA? Do you count on Penn State to sanction themselves?

This sounds like an odd position to take on this.

Bill O'Brien has just as many if not more NFL contacts than any other CFB coach out there, plus he was Tom Brady's quarterback coach. Thats a decent stage in & of itself. Probably the only thing that is keeping Hackenburg & Brenneman still committed (for now)

It is USC. Someone will get booted off the program between now and then I am sure (hell one or two guys get booted or choose to transfer because they are plugged on the depth chart for any team during August practice). LA is a lot of fun.

VT played with 82 scholarship guys last year because of this. Players who are juniors and not in the two deep make moves to play. Other players who were out for injuries come back to find out the injury is worse than they thought. Attrition is a factor on every team.

My humble opinion is that they should have made it so a kid could transfer without penalty up until the first practices.

They should have also put in the stipulations that the kid would have to contact the NCAA stating their desire to transfer at which time the NCAA would release that to the other universities. It would have prevented the Vulture effect that we are currently witnessing.

Maybe, but then there's bound to be one or more players who would end up petitioning the NCAA for a waiver in the future anyway. Why mess around with it if you're the NCAA thinking Penn State is getting off easier than they deserve?

These players are big boys. They can handle coaches trying to recruit them. If anything Penn State should be happy about this. The players might just get pissed off and circle the wagons.

Psu put football above child ass n mouth r*pe...period. In a fair world they would have never been able to play football again..
If miami got the same penalty for their crp everyone would applaud it. I guess an outsider trying to buy popularity with student atheletes has become more gruesome than serial child r*pe in todays society.
Just a little bit disturbing.
A few facts...the ncaa has the right to punish on ethics alone. If you think psu was ethical i feel bad for you
The legal system is not going to punish a psu football program that turned a blind eye to ongoing child r*pe to protect their image.
The football and athletic departments wer obviously involved in this disgusting mess.
In the HISTORY of ncaa sanctions someone PLEASE point out were the innocent were not affected. You might have to crawl out from under your rock to do so.
Castro is gone i guess sanctions v cuba are gone now.
...but keep crying about pedo state u getting punished you sick fucks.

The kicker/punter Anthony Fera has reached out to Texas. He was a Lou Groza semifinalist and considered one of the best specialists in America. Texas lacks anyone with kicking experience, so he is likely gone.
