Penn St Decommits/Transfers thread.

Their new commit "Brennan Franklin" is being added to their 2012 class and has already left for campus. He was only offered by FCS schools.

(*) Webb decommited a couple of days before the sanctions came out, so I don't know that I credit that to the sanctions..

I figure if they were to contact another school (or have a parent do it), they could request that it remain 'confidential', and could take an 'official visit' under the radar...

It would be up to the recruiting school to report the official visit to the NCAA. Whether the NCAA is required to disclose?

I figure if they were to contact another school (or have a parent do it), they could request that it remain 'confidential', and could take an 'official visit' under the radar...

Technically they are supposed to inform O'Brien that they are at least interested in looking elsewhere, so I would hope he knows a lot more than what we know and more than what he said to the media.

If you actually go through that thread, there are a lot of players who are meeting with other schools. I wish somebody would edit the OP there, because that actually is a very good thread.

That was stated in the rules of this "recruiting" process. O'Brien has stated that as far as he knows the whole team is staying together except for 2-3 people, but I can't imagine only 2-3 are looking elsewhere right now.

Yeah at one point it had more information, that some commitments were "soft," but I guess it got hard to keep up with

Yeah. Mike Hull should be considering, as should Jamil Pollard and Kevin Haplea.

So it would be up to the player, the recruiting school, or O'Brien to disclose.

The NCAA is suspending several transfer rules in the process. Players do not have to receive permission from Penn State, and PSU is not allowed to restrict, in any way, a player from pursuing a transfer. Players only need to inform Penn State of their interest in discussing transfer options with other schools. Those interested schools also must inform Penn State of the intention to begin discussions with a player.

Three players had coaches/parents reach out to VT and Beamer on their behalf. One is a 2013 guy, I think. The other two are freshmen? beamer contacted O'Brien. Nothing else that I know of.
