I understand that, but your team has so much more talent it's sick.
Just like 1993. Just like against the Isles. We aren't gonna breathe a sigh of relief until it's over.

I understand that, but your team has so much more talent it's sick. Maybe they've been a bit overconfident. I doubt that's the case anymore. Tonight I expect a better performance from the Pens. We shall see. I'm hoping for the best though. I know the Isles won't change their style of play.

What style of play do you think best suits the Pens. Run & Gun or Physical beatdown like in the Kings vs Blues series?

Possession/physical beat down. They can keep up with a run and gun, but we just added a bunch of pieces to get away from that.

/Tyler Kennedy is equally bad at both

They can play either...and be successful with either, BUT, they're best with a hybrid of those two. Run and gun is what's killed them in the past...that's the trap they've fallen into in many of their bad losses. That and a lack of discipline ruined them against Philly. What kills me is this: if they focus on being responsible and possessing the puck, the natural talent will win out versus a lot of teams. They don't have to push offense too often. But for some reason the past 2 games defense has been forgotten for long periods of time.

Orpik should help the D, but the Isles aren't going to change anything in terms of how they play.

I think teams like the Kings & Blues would give the Penguins problems. Hitchcock knows the Pens well from his time in NJ & plays the trap. Plus both teams forecheck the crap out of their opponents. I can hear Hitch & Sutter both saying dump it in & crush Letang or whoever is going back to get the puck OVER & OVER AGAIN!! The Pens talent might win out in the end, but it would be fun to watch. Not as much fun as a Chicago vs Pittsburgh matchup, but close.

One thing is certain whichever team wins that series won't be same afterward.

They do struggle with the trap, but they're equally capable of beating a team 2-1 as they are 6-5. I prefer the 2-1 outcome.

EDIT: and I don't expect the Isles to change how they've played...that'd just be stupid.

I'm really hoping to see that Penguins/Hawks series as an NHL fan. As a Penguins fan, I want a weaker opponent if the Pens make the Finals. I'm trying to think of the last time that we had a potential setup like this with two "super" teams in their prime, both expected to go on to win multiple Cups. The closest that I can think is NJ/Detroit in '95, but I was young and honestly don't know if that matchup had the same expectations.

If the pens had decent goaltending, they would probably go 16-0

I've been watching the Caps-Rags series... it makes this series look like it's been played on an international size rink.

Ridiculous how open Suter was on that one and a nice shot.

Vokoun needs to see the ice. HCDB cannot have this series go 2-2. The Isles are completely outworking them.

You know, I didn't blame Fleury in Game 2... but this is getting ridiculous.

And turnovers. What the fuck was Adams thinking? Just get the puck fucking deep, you're killing a penalty for Christ's sake.

Fleury is a mediocre goalie. Been saying it for years. Fans/mgmt mistook a strong, small sample for "clutch." Lateral is average, stickwork is among the worst, good glove hand, average positioning.

Non-Pens' fans can only hope the organization continues to stick by him.
