Your probably spot on with Arians for COY, but Jason Garrett has a shot as well. Dallas was suppose to be a .500 team and the Eagles were suppose to run away with the NFCE, but he finally got his guys to play to their talent level and it has showed up to this point winning the NFCE.

He's got a shot, but I see him as runner up.

Pete should have won it the 2012 season when we went 11-5 and won a playoff game after going 7-9 the year before and missing the playoffs

This. How PC and Schneider were never recognized for what they did with the Seahawks is mind boggling. Of course now that the Seahawks are good, neither will ever win an award. The Seahawks are just doing what they're supposed to be doing, the fact the John and Pete are responsible for setting up the franchise to succeed long term doesn't matter.

Schneider was robbed in 2012.

It does suck that PC/JS didn't get awards for there hard work, but I think at this point building a dynasty and bringing home another trophy is more then satisfactory in there eyes.

Arians is gonna get it ... And I"m also ok with that... We all know Pete is a helluva coach, and I'm sure he wants one thing again, and it's not individual recognition...

Screw the awards, screw the ceremonial games, screw the league, and screw the press.

They can keep their awards, we will take our lombardis.

very true the only award that matters is that lombardi trophy the only trophy where you cant vote on who wins it which is why we take it.

They've given the award to Bellichek 3 times and he's had great teams and one of the best HOF QB's of all time. Bellichek won in 2003, 2007 and 2010. So I don't think coaching a team that is already good necessarily disqualifies you from winning COY.

Not always, true, but Belichick is the exception to the rule. It's Bill Belichick. Bill motherfucking Belichick. Also keep in mind that the Pats missed the playoffs in 2002. And 2007, well, yeah. First 16-0 team ever. The Seahawks would probably have to go 15-1 next year for PC to win coach of the year and even then I'm not sure he would. The Seahawks were sitting at 6-4 this year 3 games back from the division lead with 6 to go and are one win away from not only winning the division, but securing HFA. And yet no one outside Seattle even mentions PC as a COY candidate. Going back a few years here's the winners and their teams record the previous year:

2013 Ron Rivera - 2012 Panthers: 7-9
2012 Bruce Arians - 2011 Colts: 2-14
2011 Jim Harbaugh - 2010 49ers: 6-10
2010 Bill Bellichick - 2009 Pats: 10-6
2009 Marvin Lewis - 2008 Bengals: 4-11-1
2008 Mike Smith - 2007 Falcons: 4-12
2007 Bill Belichick - 2006 Pats: 12-4
2006 Sean Payton - 2005 Saints: 3-13
2005 Lovie Smith - 2004 Bears: 5-11
2004 Marty Schottenheimer - 2003 Chargers: 4-12
2003 Bill Belichick - 2002 Pats: 9-7
2002 Andy Reid - 2001 Eagles: 11-5
2001 Dick Jauron - 2000 Bears: 5-11
2000 Jim Haslett - 1999 Saints: 3-13
1999 Dick Vermeil - 1998 Rams: 4-12
1998 Dan Reeves - 1997 Falcons: 7-9

I could keep going, but the point is pretty clear. There are exceptions sure, usually Belichick and one for Andy Reid going back 15 years. I can damn near guarantee now that PC won't win COY next year. Just one man's opinion anyway.

I'm sure past winners of the COY award who didn't win a championship would gladly trade the former for the latter. As others have stated, A COY award for Carroll would be nice, but when people look back on a coach's legacy, they don't look at Coach of the Year awards, they look at championships won. Carroll has one in the bank already and has his team in good position to go for another one. If they win it, that'll be his Coach of the Year award.

As was stated earlier in the thread, if Carroll was gonna win Coach of the Year, it should have happened in 2012 when he took a completely rebuilt two-time 7-9 team to within 30 seconds of the NFC Championship game. I think this year's award will go to Jason Garrett. Arians would be a good choice given the number of injuries they've dealt with and who those injuries impacted, but it's gonna be hard for the voters to give COY to a coach whose team only improved by one win. I say one win because I don't think there's a chance in hell of them winning in Santa Clara with a 4th string QB. San Francisco's defense is too good.
