Pay Earl Thomas? Why? or even Aaron Donald and Khalil Mack at that

49ers lost a lot of close games where all they needed was average QB play to win. Jimmy did not single handedly turn them around. He just gave them something at the QB position that wasn’t completely awful.

Sorry....the QB play 'wasn't completely awful' logic is absolute nonsense. They lost a lot of close games, and they were also blown out in few. They were 1-10 without him and 5-0 with him. If you still don't grasp how night and day the difference was, let this sink in:

STAT BEFORE JG (WEEKS 1-12) AFTER JG (WEEKS 13-17)
Offensive yards/game 321.7 (21st in NFL) 410.0 (3rd)
Points/game 17.0 (28th) 28.8 (5th)
Yards/play 4.9 (24th) 6.1 (4th)
Passing yards/game 221.8 (17th) 297 (3rd)
Passing yards/att. 5.66 (29th) 8.44 (1st)
Completion percentage 56.6 (31st) 67 (6th)
Passer rating 72.6 (31st) 94.0 (11th)
Total QBR 32.4 (28th) 80.0 (1st)
Rushing yards/game 99.9 (23rd) 113.0 (16th)
3rd-down conversion percentage 34.1 (26th) 50.0 (3rd)
Offensive efficiency 20.88 (31st) 70.53 (4th)

Let's not pay Brady on the back too much. It's a little easier when your wife makes the money his has.
No doubt.

Must be hell for those other QBs living off of $15M+, poor bastages.

Did I say they were poor? No, I said Bradys wife's money made it easier for him take less.

OP mentioned Kawaan Short, and he was a great pick by Gettleman that really developed. But his high 2nd contract was also part of the reason Norman got cut.

Pats decided to pay fairly big for Gilmore last year, but overall Belicik seems to find a crew of football-savvy, capable guys to hold the line every year on D, on-budget.

IF you're really shelling out the big $, think it comes down to whether the guy is a true difference maker. And that's where the analytics might work against some of these defenders.

Maybe I should've used green:rolleyes2:
Feeling a little extra sensitive today, relax the NFL is back. Shitty game but football none the less.

I'm watching the Sox, not that minor league football game.
I have NFL Game Pass. I don't have a baseball package. Maybe next year? So right now I just have to catch updates on ESPN Gamecast.
Go Sox

I don’t care about misleading stats or his misleading record. Jimmy G. was better than garbage, so naturally the 49ers would improve with him especially considering how great of an offensive mind the coach is. In spite of that, Jimmy G was an interception machine. If he played a full year he might have thrown 20 picks and he wouldn’t have gotten that contract. Jimmy G. has a weak arm and I’m not yet sold on him as a franchise guy. But luckily for him, he has a great coach that can put him position to be successful.

Misleading stats? Clearly you cannot refute the facts above, so just pull some nonsense from your ass.

Interception machine? Weak arm? OK...it's quite clear you're operating on ignorance and stupidity only....you clearly didn't see any of the games he played or cannot comprehend the basics of football. The one interception against the Bears, the receiver caught the ball only to have it ripped from his hands. Not on Garoppolo. One interception against the Jags, his arm was hit as he was throwing...not on Garoppolo. Two interceptions against the Rams - the receiver ran the wrong route on one, and the other the receiver fell down. Neither on Garoppolo. That's 4 cases of bad luck against the QB.

Anything else? I'll just keep proving you wrong.
