Peter Stastny rips Avalanche after deal with Blues

"This young team was ready to challenge, almost, for a Stanley Cup this season," Peter Stastny told KMOX radio in St. Louis on Tuesday. "They were so good. All they needed was some more chemistry and some synergies. Instead, they destroyed the team."

Stastny went on to express his regrets with making the comments but continued to voice his displeasure to the St. Louis radio station.

"I should not have said this, but I'm so, so mad with what they've done to this team," Stastny told the radio station. "They've moved the team about two to three years back."

Stanely Cup? I know his young team had a surprising run the previous year, but the Avs were nowhere close to being a contender. When the West took them seriously this season, they failed which isn't much of a shock.

When it comes down to it, both Stewart and Johnson have shown flashes of great potential. I don't see a whole lot of downside from the Aves' perspective either, since they're young up front and old on the back end. This trade makes decent sense for them, in my opinion.

I agree with Peter and I think both teams royally fucked up by making that trade. If you've got a young team then there's always going to be some growing pains. Both teams should have been more patient.
