Thursday marked the opening of a sports book in Clark County, Indiana, a move that came after the state of Indiana legalized sports betting on Sept. 1.
At Horseshoe Casino in Elizabeth in Southern Indiana, former Green Bay Packers star Paul Hornung was set to place the ceremonial first wager, which is somewhat amusing when you consider Hornung's history with gambling.
The Pro Football Hall of Famer, 83, was the first overall pick in the 1957 NFL Draft and won four NFL championships with the Packers as the team's halfback and kicker.
He also was suspended from the NFL for the entire 1963 season for gambling.
The first legal bet at an Indiana sports book was set to be placed, somewhat humorously, by a Packers legend
