Ok... you have just gone to a WHOLE nother level of respect in my eyes!! That movie is genius!! Before Rounders came out it THAT was the best gambling movie ever made!!
When I was younger my best friend and I would frequent the track. We literally saw various people who were at the track who fit the description of each of the characters in that movie.
Well done sir!!
Oh... and you could be walking around lucky and not even know it!
I’m willing to bet @MrChaney agrees!
I used to play the ponies a lot. Actually good at it.
I was in Reno years back and there was a race at Golden Gate Fields - the feature race with a prohibitive favorite. The favorite was very, very good. 400 pound dude walks up with a huge roll of hundreds, puts $100,000 on the nose for a win. I walked up behind him and put $1000 to place. Skywalker got beat by a nose to fucking Yellow Brick Road. Dude starts trashing the place, teller hits the alarm and the Pit Boss says, "let him break a few things, he paid for it!" I was jumping up and down and the dude gives me an evil look and say's "what are you so fucking happy about?" I said, "I covered your bet and made 2 grand without even handicapping the race."
Nobody makes real money at the track without covering your bets - right @SteelersPride ?

Let It Ride (1989) - IMDbView attachment 193252
Hahaha. Great story.
You’re right... the track is a ton of fun and the people who hang there are hilarious. Have you seen the movie “Let it Ride”? If not, I’m telling you it’s a must see! It’s an older movie but still great! Lots a actors you will recognize and a phenomenal (yes, I said “phenomenal”) cast! Haha
This past year, I went to Del Mar. it’s been on my bucket list for a while. I had a great trip with several friends. Gotta have good seats to truly appreciate it!
sureI have not seen that. On Amazon? Prime?

Give me 48 $50 win tickets on the Pats
yep Del Mar is a lot fun. I'm not a gambler and I don't bet. I usually go because of the post-race concerts.View attachment 193252

I don't care how rich you are. Betting 11K on any sports is stupid. But hey, who am I to judge. If I was that rich, I'd spend it on escorts.

This movie is a classic if you are a horse player.....I used to hit Hialeah, Calder and Gulfstream when living in Florida.....So many characters at the track, nothing better than drinking, gambling and busting balls at the track.....I'll hit Monmouth this summer and need to get back up to Saratoga which is just incredible.....Ok... you have just gone to a WHOLE nother level of respect in my eyes!! oh man u know your a degenerate if you hit hialeah, heck even calder now a days.........This movie is a classic if you are a horse player.....I used to hit Hialeah, Calder and Gulfstream when living in Florida.....So many characters at the track, nothing better than drinking, gambling and busting balls at the track.....I'll hit Monmouth this summer and need to get back up to Saratoga which is just incredible.....
In the early 90's there wasn't simulcasting yet...You'd have to got to the track....We would make road trips to the tracks and drink our way back to West Palm Beach hitting strip joints on the way back, often hitting Pompano track for the fixed harness races.......oh man u know your a degenerate if you hit hialeah, heck even calder now a days.........
i can say that i have made it to Rosecroft harness track, you wanna talk about a dump. Heck the meadows has a nice casino, and huge horse population. But the track portion is not stellar, nor is mountaineer, nor is presque isle, nor is laurel
liar liar liar! harness is never fixed! In the early 90's there wasn't simulcasting yet...You'd have to got to the track....We would make road trips to the tracks and drink our way back to West Palm Beach hitting strip joints on the way back, often hitting Pompano track for the fixed harness races.......
The scene in Easy Money is classic, the harness driver has his heels in the ground....."We're going to Hawaii!"i love watching harness when u see a horse that riding a 13 race winning streak, never "broke" in his career. Hits the stretch 4 in front on cruise control, off stride before the line........
ahaha thats about rightThe scene in Easy Money is classic, the harness driver has his heels in the ground....."We're going to Hawaii!"
