Patriots announce 10 cuts, Tim Tebow not among them | ProFootballTalk

The cuts the Patriots announced were tight end Jake Ballard, defensive end Marcus Benard, tight end Daniel Fells, receiver Johnathan Haggerty, linebacker Mike Rivera, offensive lineman Luke Patterson, fullback Ben Bartholomew, defensive lineman Gilbert Peña, offensive lineman Matt Stankiewitch and defensive lineman Scott Vallone.

Mildly surprised to see Benard cut. I didn't really think Ballard or Fells would be cut but I'm not *that* surprised at it. The only other name I even recognize on the list is Rivera, and I'm not surprised he didn't make it.

He has survived so far and cutting Ballard and Fells makes some sense and room.

I really hope they cut Tebow. If they don't make him play special teams considering that's what he would be taking away from.

Sadly I think he will too. He shouldn't, but I'm sure good ole Josh if like BB I can make him better. He's the only coach in the whole NFL who thinks Tebow isn't a bum.

A little surprised that Ballard was cut. Seems like a lot of Patriots fans thought the Patriots stole him from the Giants and that he was going to be a great 3rd TE after Gronk and Hernandez

He's still hurt and not PUP eligible, though. Considering they're already likely to carry an injured TE into the regular season, they probably can't afford to carry another one. And with that knee injury there's no guarantee he ever returns to form.
