Another third down back. Maybe BB isn't sold on James White as Dion Lewis' backup. Right now, the only big, between the tackles runner on the roster is Tyler Gaffney, who has spent the last two years on IR.

As I said previously, I wanted The Pats to draft6 Brown. He was a workhorse back at UCONN and the Colts got him first. He played for the Chargers last year. He's a solid running back and he can catch the ball.

According to what I've read in the Boston Herald, Lewis is working out and appears to be ahead of his rehab schedule. He'll be in camp.

I haven't followed Brown but from what I've read I'm not holding my breath. 250k is nice can always release him. But I hope BB is looking for a different 3rd down back? Or I hope Big Ken is right?

Brown receiving is 120 for 163 attempts.
Shane Vereen (in NE) was 107 for 150 attempts
Just statistics but Vereen was almost useless as a runner.
Brown has shown no drop-off as a receiver. He is at the very least a good backup.
I have been worried about the 5'8" Dion Lewis being over used.......

If he can fill Vereen's void I'd say that was a steal. I'd gladly come back here and say I was wrong.

I like the addition of Brown. He is a Shane Vereen/James White who can run. The Pats still need help at the big back spot. With what's left out there, it sounds more and more like Blount will be re signed to compete with Tyler Gaffney (if he can make it off IR). I would really like to see BB draft Jordan Howard. He is a big, strong back with excellent ball control but does have some negatives as a blocker and receiver. CJ Prosise is also a possibility but his ball security is problematic.

I don't know if he can fill Vereen's role or not. I do know his stats say he can. What we don't know is can he catch like a receiver or are those stats dump-offs coming out of the backfield. He has made a living in the NFL for a long time as an RB that can't run - surely he can catch passes!!!!!
