I remember seeing a few questionable position lists. For some reason, some of the current and former Flyers come to mind. Could be a sign.

I don't think the dollar figure is that astounding, but what surprises me is the term. I would think they'd pay him a little more for a one or two year deal than commit yet another large multi-year contract to another player.

The 'Hawks have SIX players making $5 million + and TWELVE players making $2 million + signed through the 2013-2014 season.

I know some will poo poo on any long-term contracts. I don't agree. I think sometimes you get real value in those contracts, especially as inflation and the cap make them more valuable/reasonable each year for top players. But that is an awful lot of money committed to a LARGE group of guys for a long time. If some of those players underperform, you're not only stuck with limited cap space, but you've got untradeable assetts or players you have to take a bath on to move them.

Four or five years from now, they might be seeing some real value on some of these guys. They could also be in big trouble.
