I'd say Sharp is untouchable for the next five years...

I don't think it's too high for a guy that is capable of hitting that 40 mark a few times. He's had a couple great years in which we can see he's getting better. This gives the Hawks an opportunity to maintain their cores of goalscorers for a while.

I kinda take back my post. I looked, he has put a nice number. Still not 5.9 though.

Florida would be perfect. That's where all the Blackhawks go to retire from competition.

Maybe a half a million too high, but not as outrageous as it's been suggested. He's a very good all around player, and I agreed with DC that he could pot 40 a couple times on this contract.

Another point that I just thought of was that his numbers will increase as Toews and Kane get closer to their primes. Money should be spot on then.

Kesler has a 6 year $30M contract at $5 a year and is a 40 goal scorer and Selke winner. I think its pretty high for what Sharp is even with his Ring. hes a great player but I wouldnt think more than $4.5 to $5

And if Kesler signed a contract this offseason it would be 6M+ a year...

In this market, I don't think it's too high

Sharp is a complementary player. He doesn't drive the offense himself very much, as far as I've seen.
He's got wheels, he's got a shot. Someone else needs to create space for him.
He's the 3rd or 4th best forward on the team (depending if Hossa feels like playing on any given night)

a shade under $6m is a fuck of a lot for a player like that.

on the plus side, at least he's not among the top 25 paid forwards, so it's an overpayment, but not in the campbell stratosphere of stupid contracts.
