Not surprising. Before Mahomes and Baker, the Big 12 had completely failed to produce NFL quality QBs.

The only one that had a great shot was Sam Bradford. He just never developed.

Vince Young and Colt McCoy were always going to be college stars. Chase Daniel isn't even built like a QB.

Gabbert came out a year before he should and was getting hyped up too much. Got drafted right next to Locker and Ponder so those are his contemporaries.

I think after the success of Aaron Rodgers and Alex Smith, I can see any QB making it as long as the man is up to the job.

    RIP Big 12 QB meme.

For the time being, yes. Mayfield and Majomes are generational talents, so we'll have to see what the conference produces moving forward. Statistically speaking, they're still a distant 5th among the P5 conferences, even with Mahomes and Mayfield.

Can we just change the title to read "First Big 12 QB To Be Worth A Shit"?

One could actually say it is so amazingly surprising, that it even landed his old college coach an NFL job!

Count me among the number of people who aren't writing him off as a failure just yet. They're obviously going to need some dramatic personnel improvements, but as long as he builds a solid staff, I think he could do some things. Having to recruit talent to the middle of nowhere West Texas will be different than building a professional team. He's in great shape in the draft to add some elite talent this year, and while I don't necessarily think it'd be smart for them to trade out, he's fortunate that there are some teams with major needs who could offer a boatload for the #1 pick, which could help them further. He has a QB to work with who, despite this season, has talent. He has a solid RB, and Arizona has a good pass rush. They have to address OL desperately, though, or else Rosen will never progress.

Andy Reid, best offensive coach in history.

mahomes was asked in an interview this season, 'when did you learn how to play the QB position?'.

Mahomes responded, 'When I started getting coached by Coach Reid'

He was a raw talent at TT but Reid has actually taught him how to play the position. Amazing coaching job by Reid.

Vince Young and RG3 managed to get the Titans and Redskins into the playoffs.

But that was about as far as they were going to get.
