Hypothetically, next offseason if we had a chance of landing Shea Weber who is going to arbitration with the Preds, at the expense of resigning Parise would you do it? We'll say Weber would be roughly a $7.5 mill cap hit for 7 years and Parise would be a $6.6 mill cap hit for 7 years.

How old is weber? That's a lot of money for any 1 player a year. If he gets its down to a 6.5 cap hit that's much much manageable. Not for anything kovalchuk last year took this team and put it on his back for thr second half of the season. Yeah i know it doesn't make up.for the first half....buuuuut that's somethig I really havebt seen Parise do with this team. I think Parise has way more heart then Kovy but talent wise Kovy has him beat. Thats why they make a great 1-2 punch the devils need both on this team

Shea Weber born August 14, 1985. Have to figure he is a top 3 D Man in the league so he's probably getting over 7 million.

Weber is asking for too much. But he's really young, and almost won the Norris this season and hits like a dump truck. he also plays about 30m/g come the playoffs.

7.5 is close, I agree, but Weber is asking for 8.5

Yeah if you want to talk about arbitration getting ugly, Nashville is offering him 4.5 he is asking for 8.5. Nashville will need to get really mean in order to justify that offer. Can't blame Weber for going after a max contract. Going to be 26 this season and arguably the best at his position.
