I had a little conspiracy theory that the rise in TJ surgeries had to do with over-diagnosis. Just my under-researched, ignorant opinion.

There are a number of articles out there that show a pretty strong correlation between year round pitching and TJ. It's up like 400% over 25 years ago among teens.

I wonder if the split-finger adds to the problem as well. I remember back in the 80s/90s, the Giants as an organization decided to ban the pitch because they feared it was blowing out arms.

That's kinda the sad part about this for me. These kids shouldn't be going through that much stress so early, who knows what kind of effect this is going to have on their arms when they're 50.

Nobody should EVER pitch year round. It's hard enough on the body (as I discover every time we get rain) pitching half the year. You need other sports to offset the abuse pitching forces on you.
