YA, that looks really bad now. Even worse.

They ran off the field and didn't even consider this rule.

They are either A incompetent or B incompetent

I'm going with C - incompetent.

That is the rule which means the Big 10 replay officials are as much to blame as the PAC refs on the field.

Perhaps. The rules says "May", not "Shall". In rulebooks and in contract law, that is a key word that is used purposefully, each with separate and distinct meanings.

IMHO, the replay official is as culpable as the morons in stripes on the field, but even if the replay official wanted to review it, I doubt they could have caught those jackrabbits and got them back on the field.

They disappeared faster than ribs at a Brady Hoke BBQ.

THe Pac-12 and Big-10 contracts stipulates that the HOME team will have the field refs and the VISITING team will have replay officials from their conference. I heard this explained today by the voice of Badger Football. Something the conferences needs to look at.

Thanks for that FSUmanager.

...and reading further in the thread we see that it was indeed reviewable.

So both the pac and B1G officials are at fault. No conspiracies, no one out to get the B1G. Just gross incompetence throughout that charade of a game.

I don't think anyone says there's a conspiracy, just incompetence. And the original mistake was by the Pac-12 crew on the field. And Pac-12 crews have a history of incompetence.

I bet "Pac-12 referee" will be a popular Halloween costume in Madison this year.

It has nothing to do with Pac-10 vs Big Ten officials. It is just a bad call and a bad job by the replay officials not reviewing it. I am tired of people thinking officials have a hidden agenda. If that was the case, they would just call holding or personal fouls on big plays by the team they want to lose. And since those calls are so gray in nature, it wouldn't lead to them being disciplined.

Nebraska UCLA

It was PAC 12 officials on the field. B1G in the booth.

The PAC 12 officials on the field signaled a UCLA field goal good, and the guy was right under the upright. The B1G replay officials called down and had it overturned. The kick was a clear miss on replay.

No idea what the left upright PAC 12 official was looking at.

I think they got ASU's first FG wrong too. It curled back inside, but not until it was past the upright. Wasn't reviewed.

If the rule book is used, this can be reviewed:

"ARTICLE 6. No other plays or officiating decisions are reviewable. However,
the replay official may correct egregious errors, including those involving the
game clock, whether or not a play is reviewable.
This excludes fouls that are
not specifically reviewable (Reviewable fouls: Rules 12-3-2-c and d, 12-3-4-b
and 12-3-5-a)."

Wasn't much rule booking going on at the end of that game, though.

Well, you're right I don't have the rule book memorized. I went off of what Mike Pereira and the PAC 12 head of officials said...

I guess I shouldn't have trusted them

They said during the game that the reason it wasn't reviewed is because if it goes above the upright it's a judgment call and cannot be reviewed.

Exactly, replay can overrule the field reps, right. We need a statement from the B1G commissioner about how the replay officials screwed up and how he's going to get rid of them.

Isn't it the job of the replay officials to correct or overrule "original mistakes" on the field? So all thru this controversy, there's B1G officials in the replay booth...and did nothing! So you own it Wisconsin. B1G officials have proven their incompetence as well.
