2019 national title odds to watch seven months early

OREGON: 40 TO 1
WASHINGTON: 50 TO 1

Vegas is fully buying into the Justin Herbert hype. Washington has won two of the last three Pac-12 titles, but Oregon enters the offseason as a significant Pac-12 favorite on the strength of an NFL-caliber QB and a top-10 recruiting class. The Huskies have transfer QB Jacob Eason to replace Jake Browning, but they do lose a lot of pieces that don’t have simple fixes, including Myles Gaskin and most of the secondary. Oregon went 5–4 in conference last year and has road trips to USC, Stanford and Washington lined up, so it’s understandable to be skeptical that the Ducks can put together a full season worth of playoff-caliber performances.

But you don't have to be playoff-caliber to win the Pac-12.

(By the way, I think Eason may turn out to be the better QB of the two.)

Oregon's natty title odds will drop to 400 to 1 points on that news.
He's the only reason the Ducks aren't 5-6 wins each year since Uncle Phil threw a kings ransom at him to join Nike U. Their defensive ranking will be dropping like a rock with his departure.

Also be interested to see if any of their commitments demand to kill their LOI status and reopen their recruitment on this news. The timing of this must be a nutz kick to a lot of them who thought they were getting Leavitt as their DC.

These were Athlon's ratings. I think USC's & UCLA's recruits are often over-rated. I believe there's better coaching and talent at Washington & Oregon.
