Can't blame him.
He's a young guy with tons of talent.
No wonder he wanted to remain in Cali.
The bright lights of Hollywood can be hypnotic.
It was always gonna be one of the 2 coasts for him.
Never really saw him landing on a team in the middle of the country.

Btw, he isn’t proving anything by choosing to join a loaded team.

He’s not going to be the guy that got them to the PO’s, or won them the WS because they’ve already been there and done that without him.

700M

And people were saying he wouldn’t get 600M after his injury.

The Dodgers have become the Yankees of the early 2000’s where they spent more than everyone else and loaded their rosters.

I fail to see how this is good for baseball when one team can just buy all the talent.

How are the small market teams supposed to stand a chance? How are they going to keep their fans faithful and attending games knowing they don’t stand a chance in the NL?
They need a cap ceiling and floor. Simple as that. This is getting out of hand but I said this for awhile now. When will they figure it out?

Player over team accomplishments mean more in baseball than any other sport. Team success doesn’t matter but he will win in LA, something he would never do with the other LA team. Poor management. I think he will be fine hitting 50 HR’s a year while winning 100+ games even with no titles and his legacy won’t take a hit at all. He took the deal bc he gets paid, going to a stout team and bc he doesn’t have to move. It’s a win-win-win for him

I mean any team coulda done this. THere is no cap. Most teams are worth closer to a billion overall. Its 70 per year that will make the money back in jersey sales instantly

Small market teams just dont have the balls to do it.

If it ever starts hurting the bottom line. Has it yet?

Any floor would be higher than the payrolls that several teams have thrown out there the last few years

And it would increase salaries

Thats just fucking bonkers.
They'll make most of it back marketing him to two wealthy nations. I know you're going to repeat your post a 3rd time. We get it.

Ohtani will be paid, annually, for the next 10 years, more than the A’s and O’s payroll was for 2023 (as it stood going into 2023).

Think about that for a second.

One player, for each of the next 10 years. More than ann entire MLB roster.

Bro

You cheer for a team that had fucking Ohtani and Trout while never making the playoffs. Also spending the entire fucking time to add

There isnt anything for him to prove in a sport like baseball as a individual. You cant just lead teams to titles unless the rest of the team is good
