Alex Smith: 20 for 26, 211 yards, two TDS and no picks. Good job.

Although alot of people don't like it as a stat it's still nice to see his QB rating as high as it was today! 125.6 to be exact.

Hard to complain about what he did today but I didn't hear any kudos either. I was surprised.

His cautious approach sure is helping them win games. You hear the announcers talk about missed opportunities downfield - and I'm sure they're there, and I'm sure most QBs would take them and make a few more big plays and a few more turnovers. But Smith is playing the situations so ridiculously well, when to take shots and when to throw it away, based on field position and field goals and such. Its a subtle skill that won't win you much praise on the national scene, but it does seem effective.

Good game for Alex, Delanie almost screwed him when he tried to pitch it up to Woodson for the INT... and only a few really bad throws.

there always seems to be second guessing. he made plays when needed and he's not messing up. on the two td passes he made nice throws.

My one criticism of him today is not recognizing where to go with the ball quickly enough and getting sacked. Of course the pass blocking remains a big problem though.

It seemed like the play calling or audibling went run happy in the second half. I would have really liked to see the first half passing success continue. Staley was a problem for sure.

He out played the reigning MVP of the league. What more do people want? Rodgers threw for more yards but on more passing attempts and at lower yards per pass average. Oh and Rodgers ran for a few more yards. Smith however didn't throw an Int that let to the other team getting a short field and a TD. Did I mention this game was on the road at Lambeau Field as well?

By the way Michael Vick with only 2td to go with his 4ints still scored more Fantasy points than Alex Smith. Yeah it doesn't make sense to me either.

Lol I'm so tempted to log in and talk some trash

i can't believe ppl still bitch about smith. big ben just missed seeing mike wallace wide open and i doubt you'd see steeler fans going nuts like '49ers fans' would if smith missed seeing a wide open wr.

To be fair, outside of Mathews I think the Pack defense is horrible. I was happy with Smith's performance. But I think Rodgers playing against one of the top defense's in the league (if not the very best) compared to Smith playing against one of the very worst defense's was the difference...

Definatley a confidence builder for the entire offense going forward, though!

The overlooked stat of the day is that Smitty now owns the "SF 49ers regular season consecutive pass attempts without an INT record", eclipsing the previous record of 184 held by Steve Young.
