well heres the thing....if you dont fault mac then you have to fault lou...he is the one that brought this roster together...you also have to fault lou because he has handcuffed this team with his NTC's he gave out to everyone!

the team looks like the cowboys on ice....that arent playing for maclean...might that be macleans fault? no it probably isnt but unfortunately there is only two ways this plays out.


1. keep mac on the job problem is the season would be lost...and i doubt anyone wavies their ntc's so next year we are in the same boat as this year.

2. let mac go and take your chance on a new coach...whats the worse that can happen?


look on the flip side the caps did it and it has done wonders!

Agreed. I suppose the choice is also who comes in as replacement for him but i don't think that's much of an issue. Just someone needs to replace him.

Kinda sucks since Mac's been loyal and waited for his chance to get to the level of coaching with the Devils but this is burying us.

I think it's too late, honestly. They'd have to go on a torrential pace for the next few MONTHS just to get back in it.. They haven't shown me anything to indicate that's possible.

Also, you say it's on Lou, but considering that basically everyone in the hockey world predicted the Devils to be one of the two best teams in the east this year, your notion is a little far fetched.

Yeah no one complained about what Lou got done during offseason.

It was excellent, Maybe it's a feeling that everything SHOULD be working, coach & team but it's not. Even so i think he needs to make a tough decision because even though on paper they should be pretty darn good, they're terrible right now.

Really is a drastic measures situation.

I do blame Lou for more of this than Mac. However, like MC said, everyone thought the Devils would be lights out this year. Shit happens, and sooner or later it was going to happen to the Devils.

I agree I was one who thought this year was going to be solid...but he still hasn't fixed the cap problem why? Because the stupid ntc has handcuffed him. Tallendar has been god awful....we have had what 10 coaches in 10 years?

You keep referring to the Cap problem like we're playing with 15 players. It hasn't been a problem since Rolston went down weeks ago. Maybe it's distracting the players, but they're professionals.

Second, why would you go out and try to trade a body that you will get no return for, or trade away draft picks if you can just put the players on LTIR? Parise is gone until February. The caps cleared until then. I like that Lou waited and didn't panic.

the one way i look at is this, and i fear it,


is that lou will not fire mac because he will have had put too much time into developing him as a coach, making him and investment.

i don't blame mac for any lack of drive or anything of the sort but he has changed several things.

example one is passing to guys right next to each other, flat footed on break ins... its happend since preseason, and i've enver seen any devils team try that crap. where did it come from? all signs point to mac.
