Caps fans, his teammates, and his pissed off coach to start with. Caps have been blown out 5-0 to shitty teams twice recently.

If he wants to joke around with Kovy, whatever. Don't do it 3 feet from the crowd of reporters interviewing your upset coach. Especially when you and your team have been relatively playing like shit.

Otherwise you look like a douche.

It's a long season and you definitely have to pick your spots to yuck it up with the opposition. I would humbly suggest that a few feet away from your coach's presser when you've been shutout 5-0 and it's the fourth game in a row that you haven't potted a goal isn't using the best of judgement.

Best way to quiet this is to come out with a strong performance next game, something tells me OV is a good bet to light the lamp when the Caps next hit the ice.

I don't have a problem with it. But I suppose he could have foreseen that some people might. I thought hockey players were known for their ability to "leave it on the ice". Sure they lost but life goes on. Its good to see that he and Semin aren't sore losers is it not?

Agreed. The only people who should give two shits about this are OV's coaches and teammates (and to a lesser extent, Capitals fans). Otherwise, it's a non-issue to me that will be blown out of proportion by the media.

***If Joe Thornton did this though, I'd be pissed as a Sharks fan.

I think it is being blown out of proportion...however, the placement of the conversation was poor. He can yuck it up, but to do it RIGHT after the game next to the media is just a bad idea. Nothing to annoy me though.

Oh for sure Pix, it was horrid timing in a very bad place. I just think the media and fans of other teams shouldn't be "up in arms" about it. I definitely don't think it was a smart move by AO and I'm sure his coaches and his teammates will let him know exactly how dumb of move it was.....

I'm just of the mind that it shouldn't be a big story outside of the Nations Capital (no pun intended).

I can't see why its such a big deal its also not the first time it happened.just earlier this season when the caps beat the devils they were seen exchanging sticks and catching up during the press conference.really its something athletes do in all sports whether it be a countryman or old college or pro teammates.personally I don't think its a bug deal until the media makes it one.

Just look at teh NFL when it comes to things like this.

After the game, the players meet right on the field and laugh and talk to one another.

It's human nature to want to communicate with people that you know and might not get to see that often during the season. I see nothing wrong with it.

Now if OV was sitting on the Devils bench during the game talking to Kovy........
