LA is bad, seen a lot of gridlock, having lived in MD and South FL as well. Been in Chi Town, took cabs, but never drove in it, so I don't have a reference point for that.

never been to LA so can't really say how traffic is, but it's hell in Chicago. and if you drive downtown in the city, forget it. you'll move farther walking

LA is so large and sprawling, with no good commuter system, so it's hell at points where different freeways merge. Guaranteed you have to traverse at least 2 of these hot spots if you have to commute any distance at all for work. Wouldn't live there again, unless my work was accessible without a commute. Other than traffic, it's an amazing place to live.

I like LA, as a place to visit, but I can't see how anyone enjoys living there.

Well, the weather, sunny days, amazing beaches, excellent restaurants, ability to see great live shows and entertainment, museums.. To name a few perks...

I can believe it. I hate the traffic here during rush hour. but it's still nothing compared to Chicago or a larger city.

SD is gorgeous too, but it is facing a lot of the same issues as LA in terms of traffic. Got a ton of immigration issues as well, not that that would put me off it. Just creates it's own ball of problems...

And you can get 2 sources of income, from the sale and from interest if you carry a note.
