Cowboys OTA notes week two:

- QB Dak Prescott continues to flash his mobility. Does not look like he’s fresh off a hamstring injury. I had him charted at 14-for-18 passing with two drops from Luke Schoonmaker and CeeDee Lamb. One Kaiir Elam PBU and one miss on a tough throw down the left sideline.

- RB Miles Sanders flashed multiple times today. Had two completions (screen, swing) and bounced an inside run out for a good gain. Has a spring in his step, fluid runner. Worked with first team alongside Javonte Williams

- DE Donovan Ezeiruaku was working in 7v7 dropping in coverage in the flat. Looked natural

- Tons of quick game with the offense today with all three QBs. Large handfuls of hitches, curls, swings, screens, crossers

- Much more consistent day from QB Joe Milton than last week’s availability. Had him charted at 7-for-8 (one throw behind Brevyn Spann-Ford). Highlight came on a ~40 yard pass to Ryan Flournoy for a TD. Will Grier was 3-for-3

- In individual drills, DaRon Bland, Kemon Hall, Israel Mukuamu and Zion Childress worked as a slot corner group. Juanyeh Thomas and others also saw time in 11v11, 7v7

- RB Jaydon Blue had some kickoff return burn today

- DE Sam Williams was pretty active with the rehab group. Looks great physically, would have to imagine he’s close

Great news on Dak.
Ive heard a lot of reports about Milton so far. Was a little slow picking things up at the start, but he is a hard worker and his arm strength and athletic ability is shocking to everyone who sees him. That piece of coal might be worth rubbing for a couple of years

Two things of interest I found here:

- DaRon Bland spent a majority of the time in the slot during 11 on 11 and 7 on 7 periods. When he lined up outside, both Kemon Hall and Juanyeh Thomas saw reps there.
I think if all 3 CBs are playing Bland is the obvious slot guy. I'm not even sure if the other two have ever played it before and Bland was originally thought of as a slot corner.

Rookie DT Jay Toia took a couple reps with the first team unit at DT.
Only OTAs and everyone rotates, but I like the idea of setting the tone early with Mazi and letting him know he's going to need to earn his job this time around. You play like you did the last two years and one way or another they are going to find someone to play over you, so it's time to step up. Second part about this is that Toia seems to be ahead of Rogers in the pecking order early (way too early of course) on.

100% on DT
Some guys improve...but some guys dont..
Hopefully, Mazi sees that the free lunch is over and he comes out with a fire lit and has a better season

On Bland....that will be interesting. The Cowboys wamt him inside, I have heard he doesn't really want to do it, because his contract is coming up and slot corners make substantially less than outside guys. Like less than half. If im his agent, I tell him to do it and then argue added value because he can do both....but we know what Jerry and Stephen will argue...

Cowboys LT Tyler Guyton: “I didn’t do too good last season. I want to do better. I want to be a guy that can be depended on. … I’m not gonna make any excuses. I just didn’t play as good as I needed to last year. I’m coming with a different attitude this year to become a better player.”He said he has changed his diet. “Fast foods are out. Fried foods are out.” A lot of vegetables and salmon. Toughest to give up? Raising Cane’s

I read a lot of people trashing this guy this offseason on here and elsewhere. Seems to me like he is a guy that has some accountability and wants to improve. I think getting out from under Camp Cupcake part II with McCarthy is going to help

It would be huge if he played at a higher level
The potential is there. He got the length and size. I think he needs to be more physical. He needs to bitch slap somebody. He needs to chop block somebody. I am hoping that he does better and that is very possible with the new coaching. He needs to feed off of all that nastiness in the middle. Smith,Beebe and Booker are no joke

Bland will get paid. He set an NFL record. It's obvious he can play outside or in the slot.

I would say slot corners usually get paid less because they are generally not as good. That wouldn't be the case here. Until proven otherwise, Bland is our best CB. He'll get at least what Diggs got.

He will, but it's like Tyler Smith moving from LT to LG. There is a big difference in the money for the spot. With Revel coming in, I really believe either Diggs or Bland is going to go eventually

I think he will too, if Jerry and Stephen are willing to pay him
