OT: Worst team names in sports?

Presbyterian Blue Hose.

The nickname “Blue Hose” began in the early 1900’s, when sportswriters referred to the Presbyterian College athletic teams as the “Blue Stockings” because of the blue socks they wore. Writers used the terms “stockings” and “hose” interchangeably over the years.

Even worse when I found out what the name actually referred to.

My elementary school was Cotton Boll and our name was the rebels.

It was a cotton boll with a face and confederate hat on its head. Racist much? There was a lot of cotton fields around there, but still racist.

It ended up changing to Bulldogs when i was like in 4th grade though.

Anaheim Ducks could be on there. Forgot about them. So could Utah Jazz which someone named. Toronto Maple Leafs is another I forgot about.

A number of WNBA names would sound bad to me but since it's a women's league, many of them I can let slide. Dream, Sky, Sun, Mystics, Sparks, and Lynx would be bad if they were a men's franchise.

Yeah, I hate that name. The former AAA team was called the Dukes. We're the Duke City, so it made sense. But the owners of that team moved them to Portland, leaving the name "Dukes" behind. When the new ownership group was serious about naming the team the Isotopes, a little piece of me died inside.

It used to be the Albuquerque Dukes, which I loved. I still wear a Dukes hat to this day, so it made it easy for me to not like the isotopes name from the start, doesn't help that the logo is ugly too.

It's not just ugly, it's stupid, and it makes no sense (with the exception of the Simpsons' episode). I'd be willing to be there are probably 300 people in this city who even know what the hell an isotope is.
