...and I wasn't implying that you were propogating or buying into the sensationalist headline. I just wanted to make sure no one else did, either.
In my 30+ years of growing up and living in the burgh, I can recall exactly 2 accounts of tornados actually touching down and causing any significant damage. One was in the 90's that went through downtown and caused minor damage on Mt. Washington, and the other was a string of tornados that touched down well north of the city, where the terrain is flatter. Sure there were reports of funnel clouds, but hardly any of them ever touched down. Hills and valleys just are not conducive to tornado development.
I never had any fear of tornados growing up, even when severe weather was imminent. ...and that's how I read pix's comment "no [fear of] tornados [doing any harm]".
I'd like to see an article of the most damaging places or most lives lost due to tornados...I bet Pittsburgh isn't even on the list.
