The gist I get is that this is closer to something like God of War Valhalla or the survival mode of Streets of Rage 4. Instead of a complete new games, its basically just a game based around replay value.

I generally play Fromsoft games for the exploration first and the combat second. The new game will likely be all about the combat. I'll probably pick it up on sale at some point. Probably 5th or 6th on my hype list. I suspect Split Fiction and Slay the Spire 2 will be day 1 purchases.
Oh yeah I forgot about Slay 2, I was never hugely into rogue deck build games (if that’s how you would classify it?) but I spent more time with the first one than I thought I would and it’s cool.

As far as Nightreign, I’ve seen similar opinions as yours branching as far as saying it’s gonna be kinda like Monster Hunter but in their universe. :noidea:

i remember Police Quest :)
Me too but pretty vaguely. I was single digit age in the 80s and I had an NES, our home computer was an Apple IIGS and I mostly played Oregon Trail and Pinball.

There is a big overlap in Monster Hunter fans and Souls fans online, too. I think its part of the reason Elden Ring got so big is that the Souls games started getting crazier and crazier bosses.

So little info was given out on a lot of these games. Onimusha, during its time, was a quality over quantity game that really pushed the limits on graphics. Onimusha is actually made my Capcom, though, so the line to Monster Hunter is more direct. Or even Dragon's Dogma or something like that.

I did very much enjoy the first Dragon’s Dogma, I haven’t played the second one but I’ll pick it up on sale at some point.

But yeah, you’re right about reveals and their lack of info, our opinions of everything can change contingent on what info is released later, if there’s delays and changes etc.

The devil is in the details. I'm sure the Witcher 4 will be great but I saw nothing in the trailer that made me want to buy the game. Having Ciri as the protagonist is a bit like having Jean Gray as a protagonist, to my knowledge. The power level is potentially really high there. Ciri being melee focused also puts the melee combat into focus again and thats really the one point of Witcher 3 that was just okay. Geralt was methodical. The trailer was kind of the opposite. Nothing to work on other than it being another Witcher game and the older ones being so well written.

Borderlands 4 is another one that could end up being one of my favorites or just another game. There is a real addictive formula to looter shooters but they dont always get it right.

Yeah fair points on Witcher, even the moments when you got to play as Ciri in 3 she was pretty OP, with Geralt I found myself working more with potion and sign builds so I do understand what you’re saying.

Always been a huge looter shooter fan or looters in general. Diablo, Destiny, Division and many others that don’t start with D. Lol

He

Boba Pett loves when I play as it's 80lb lapdog time
Omg, even his name is badass, you’re cool man. Lol

My daughter was born on May 4th and her name is Leia haha, I may have mentioned that when we’ve all discussed SW games in the past but not sure.

What do y'all think

The big FPS games that came out between BL3 and BL4 were Doom Eternal and Halo Infinite so I see a grappling hook. In the pre-sequel they had jump pads and stomp moves but I think the grappling hook should be more organic in design.

The other thing Im noticing is that it looks very much like a Borderlands game for people who like Borderlands. So I think it clears the very easy hurdle that the movie didn't.

What Im seeing is a landscape where a Fallout TV show got a lot of people hyped for Fallout but there is no new game. Either Borderlands 4 or Outer Worlds 2 will fill that niche and quite frankly they both couldve had the same trailer. They're both coming from experienced devs so they probably know a lot of potential money is on the table.

Doom Eternal was such a disappointment and I have forced myself to like Halo infinite.

I want a story that rivals Handsome Jack in BL2.. hell even BL1 story was great. I will still get this one but I think Ill wait for a discounted price. the new aliens remind me of when Halo switched up from fighting the covenant to the phasing aliens. I did not like that.

I haven't played Halo Infinite but I do think Doom Eternal is my least favorite Doom. I think the grappling hook should be a good addition to Borderlands.

BL3 had really solid core gameplay but everything else kinda sucked imo. I'll wait to hear what the fanbase thinks. It wouldn't take much for BL4 to be good. I do suspect that if BL4 flops then its a dead IP

I am going to need some good reviews. I actually finished the 3rd and it was a chore. Mostly. The last quarter was kind of fun. But its a long game so it was not worth it.
Just a random comment but Borderlands 3 had one of the worst game hubs Ive ever seen and for some reason the game kept sending you back there to talk to Lylyth.
