Difference in gas prices between Edmonton and Vancouver typically around 30 cents.

It’s about 70 cents today.

My son and I went to Victoria yesterday to see Jim Jeffries at Save On Memorial. A beautiful day for it. And the night before we had seen on the local news a soft opening of a new or refurbished pub by the water. Craft was the name. Fantastic place fantastic. So we went there for the pre-event beer food. Delicious burgers and way too many beers on tap to count.

There are times that I actually think about moving back to Alberta, but the weather out here is just too nice and I don't have to drive much anymore thus the high gas prices don't affect me too much. I certainly feel for the pain for people that do have to deal with these high gas prices out here though.

It's what keeps my wife and me from moving back to Calgary .. luckily now I'm only 10k from work and ride my bike half the time

We all deal with it. We all need food, clothing, etc. These things don't just fall from the sky.

The longer this stays like this the more it's going to start making the lack of housing worse, too - take the increasing interest rates and throw steadily high gas prices on that fire (and their impact on material costs) and a lot fewer builders want to start building at the moment.

my friend builds houses in Vancouver. even during all the high lumber prices he has never been busier.

this city is maddening how expensive it is and how much money people have (well not me)

It's the (badly needed) mid-rises I'm seeing pauses in.

Nothing underway is being stopped but projects that were supposed to be going out for pricing to start in 2023 have been getting a lot of pauses to try and wait out high material prices or because of "financing issues".

There was a lot of this when I first got here in 2020 too but those eventually got built (I imagine once people started getting yelled at because of carrying costs). I'm not sure where it's heading this time though.

Trutch Street was named after a dude who was pretty horrible to first nations peoples.
So they are re-naming the street šxʷməθkʷəy̓əmasəm

I feel bad for the people writing out their return addresses on letters

I always find it odd that these names are written out. Given that they had no written language I think they’re just making this up phoenetically.

I was going to add that to my post but I figure we should all get a chance to mock it
