I would’ve shit her blue Boulder. I had one rise out of some ferns in my backyard, but he wasn’t very big. He was between a big boy and a cub. And another time in my backyard. I had one come down a tree that was right beside me, and I looked up to hear noise and there was a bear 15 feet above me in the maple. I almost shit myself then to.

Nanaimo seems to be in the news a lot for such a small community. I caught the ferry there once and even though I guess I was only down by the waterfront it seemed pretty nice to me. Is it really that rough?

Yeah, Nanaimo is a pretty sketchy town, a lot of illicit drugs flow through that place and they seem to have more than their fair share of violent crime as well. There are some nice areas though and it's an easy drive from where I am in the Cowichan Valley to get up there if required (they have essentially the same shopping options as Victoria), but generally speaking, I just drive through Nanaimo on my way to Parksville lol.
